Hello and Moin, we go like every year again to the Harz. This time it goes to the city of Gosslar and we still have places available. Besides day trips of ca.15 to 20 km we want to explore the city and cook together. We stay overnight in Goslar and do day tours from there. Gosslar is easy to reach by train. Included in the price: - Accommodation - Guided tours - a friendly, good-humored hiking guide who also has board games ;-) Aim of the tour: four days getting closer to nature, hiking, relaxing and having a great time in community. About the town: Goslar is a large independent city in Lower Saxony and the district capital of the district of Goslar. As of December 31, 2021, it had 50,010 inhabitants. The mining town, first mentioned in 979, became the seat of an imperial palace around the same time and continued to develop into a city until the 13th century. In 1290, Goslar attained imperial immediacy and retained the status of an independent imperial city in the Holy Roman Empire until mediatization in 1802, which is reflected in the city's coat of arms. The old town of Goslar and the former Rammelsberg ore mine on the southern outskirts of the town have been UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1992 under the designation Rammelsberg Mine, Old Town of Goslar and Upper Harz Water Management. Sascha is a well-organized guide who adapts his tours to the group. He also made a good choice of accommodation (vacation apartment). The apartment had enough beds and bathrooms. Sascha is also very communicative and likes to talk about all kinds of topics. I can recommend his trips to the Harz Mountains. The only criticism: not everyone might like his board games.
After our arrival we first move into the apartment. After a meal we start the first small hiking tour in the surroundings of the city. We also take a look at the beautiful old town. The city also has many buildings and monuments worth seeing, for example: - Romanesque imperial palace with Goslar Kaiserstuhl. - Market place with Gothic town hall, in it the homage hall - Kaiserringhaus (former treasury building on the east side of the market square with - Romanesque cellar vaults, the carillon with figural walkway shows the arduous work of the miners in the Rammelsberg) - Zwinger (fortification tower with 6.5 meter thick walls from 1517, today museum, restaurant and vacation apartments) -Great Holy Cross (hospice from the Middle Ages) We can plan the evening spontaneously, for example with cooking, board games or a tour to a bar.

World Heritage Rammelsberg ore mines
Day 4
On the last day we will visit a very famous mine in the vicinity of the city. Mining played an important role in the region for centuries. Today the mine is a museum. The mine was closed in 1988 after more than 1,000 years of almost uninterrupted mining; since 1992, the Rammelsberg visitor mine has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
