The local pearls of Yucatan, Mexico

Arrival at Cancun airport, transfer to the city centre and accommodation in rooms in hostel. Time to freshen up, change and adjust to warm climate. Meeting in the common area of the hostel to get to know all the trip mates. After getting to know each other, we will go to the local market to buy some fresh ingredients to prepare the next day's breakfast. In the evening time we will visit the food quart Las palapas to try ours first tacos and gringas. From there we will go to drink 1, 2 or 3 mojitos in the close by bar with some live music. To sleep better, maybe also one tequila.

In the morning, we will prepare a local breakfast with freshly bought ingredients from the previous day. After finishing eating, we will pack our things and leave for Isla Mujeres, the Caribbean island close by Cancun. We will cross the sea with a ferry, take our bags to the hostel where we will be accommodated and then go on a snorkeling adventure. We will board on small boats where they will provide us with all the equipment needed to do some snorkeling. We will swim among the corals, see insanely beautiful fish, underwater museum and enjoy some locally caught fish, prepared especially for us. After finishing with the tour we will enjoy the afternoon and evening on one of the most beautiful islands, walking the streets, buying some gifts, dancing, drinking tequila, and who knows how the night will end?

After finishing breakfast in the morning, we will take a ferry back to Cancun and then leave for Holbox, another island close by Cancun. There is around 2,5h drive to a village called Chiquila, where we will board on small boats that will take us across the sea to the island. After leaving our things in the hostel, we will board those boats again to take us on a tour around the island. Finishing with the tour, we will go to enjoy a nice meal and some beers because it is important to hydrate ourselves! The rest of the afternoon is free to enjoy it on the beach. In the evening we will try our luck to see some bioluminescence plankton accompanied by a bottle of tequila.

After morning swim we will have breakfast and then cross in boats back to Chiquila. From there we will continue to our next stop, a city called Valladolid. Upon the arrival we will accommodate ourselves in the hostel, fresh up and go for a walk through the city to check out some of the most important historic sites. In the evening we will go to Mezcaleria Don Juan, where we will have some dinner and then enjoy live music, mezcal and tequila. The bravest ones will also know how to dance salsa till the end of the evening. When we wake up the next day, we will head to a local place to have some breakfast. Later on we will head to check out one of the 7 wonders of the world, the pyramid of Chichen Itza. After the tour we will continue to one of the most photogenic cenote where we will cool down with a swim. Coming back to the hostel, we will freshen up, drink some beers by the pool and then head out for dinner.

After early breakfast in the morning, we will catch a transfer to Bacalar, a magical place with some amazing natural wonders. Arriving there, we will leave our things in the hostel and head out to do a tour of the "Laguna de 7 colores". They will take us to see underwater cenotes and canal of the pirates, where we will also swim and have some cold beers. After the walk through the town, the evening will be reserved for some fun in a local bar. After breakfast, we will head to check out Cenote Azul and Los rapidos where we will take a swim and enjoy the beauty of the nature. After that, we will head to Parque Nacional Maracuya, where we will grab some food and drinks. We will also be able to swim in the lagoon, rent kayaks and listen to some good music. The evening is free to decide for whatever pleases your heart.

In the morning, we will grab local transport towards our next destination, Tulum. It will take us about 3 hours to arrive, so we better try and wake up early. Arriving to Tulum, we will head straight to the hostel, leave our things and then go do some cultural sightseeing. We will check out one of the most photogenic ruins in Mexico, the ruins of Tulum. We will take a walk through the area, take some amazing photos and then continue to the beach where we will have a free afternoon. Coming back to the town, we will go for some souvenir shopping and then explore the nightlife of Tulum. After a busy day it is time to relax and enjoy the last full day. Morning time is reserved to do some bbq shopping in the nearest supermarket. After buying everything we need, we will head to lagoon Nopalitos where we will prepare bbq, have some drinks and listen to some music right next to a beautiful swimming spot. There are also kayaks available free of charge. On our way to lagoon we can make a quick stop at one of the close cenotes. Nopalitos lagoon closes at 7pm therefore we will head back to the hostel at that time. The evening is reserved to drink our last tequila together before we head out.

After our now already well known morning routine, it is time to say goodbye to each other and head out to the airport in Cancun. Depending on the flight time, we will probably leave separately. It is around 3h drive to the airport, therefore we will plan carefully what time each of you has to take the bus. Once at the airport, it is up to you to find your gate and get on the plane in time.
