With a bouquet of clouds, I would like to render my heartfelt gratitude, and welcome the global family of Trip Mates to a mesmerizing trip to the Abode of Clouds, Meghalaya, located in the Northeastern Region of India, South-East Asia (25.4670° N, 91.3662° E). As we enroute our voyage through the hills and meadows, lakes and waterfalls, of Meghalaya, getting drenched by the classic rainfall of purity, greenery and spirituality is an inevitable part of the entire experience. And to enrich and garnish your experiential stay at Meghalaya, the rich cultural and traditional practices, exemplary history and places of historical significance, resonating music and dance, colloquial sagas and folklores, traditional sports, and a buffet of mind boggling organic ethnic cuisines, completes the length of your blanket of experience, alongside the natural, exotic and esoteric locations within the state. The soul of our journey/trip is to live and experience Meghalaya, just like a home we have newly shifted too, with a heart filled with curiosity to explore the rich heritage and vibrant culture, and a mind filled with acceptance and responsibility towards the region, its people and their customs. Responsible Tourism is something we want to preach and practice through our trips. 'ABODE MEGHALAYA' is a week long escapade, where the travelers will be provided end-to-end service ranging from: 1. Receiving and Dropping of guests to-and-fro the LGBI Airport, Guwahati, Assam, India 2. Food and Accommodation facility across all the locations in Guwahati and Meghalaya 3. Local and Inter-State Travelling (Vehicle with Driver) and Tourist Guides 4. Exotic sight-seeing tours and Adventure Activities (Trekking, Cave expedition, River Rafting, Boating) 5. Community Engagement and Cultural Exposure Within the pentad schedule, we will cater our best, earnest and honest services to all the travelers, and give them an experience that will make them believe that Meghalaya is nature's personalized artwork. And to paint the canvas of exploration, we will be accompanying our travelers to the following locations: 1. NONGKHNUM RIVER ISLAND: Located at West Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya, Nongkhnum River Island is the largest River Island of Meghalaya and the second largest in Asia, surrounded by breathtaking waterfalls – the Weinia Falls, Thum Falls, and Langshiang Falls, sandy river beach and an undulating and picturesque terrain. It is here where the state’s longest river, the powerful River Kynshi, splits into the Phanliang and the Namliang rivers. 2. MYLLIEM VILLAGE: It is located in the East Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya and is one of the many villages in Meghalaya with a remarkably scenic landscape, lush green cover pine tree groves and pristine rivers. Located on the highway leading towards Cherrapunji, it has always been a food halt for food enthusiasts and travellers with quaint food stalls always packed with foodies and stocked with its famous local (smoked) delicacies. 3. KONGTHONG VILLAGE: Kongthong Village, also known as "the Whistling Village of India', is located in the East Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya. It's also home to a unique tradition called 'jingrwai iawbei', which has been flourishing here for centuries where, each newborn in Kongthong is assigned both a regular name and a distinct melodious tune at birth by their mother. While their name is only used for official purposes, this tune becomes their identity to which they respond throughout their lives. Once a person dies, their tune dies with them, never to be repeated for anyone else ever. The Ministry of Tourism has selected this musical village for entry to UNWTO’s "Best Tourism Villages" 4. UMIAM LAKE: It is one of the biggest and most beautiful lakes in Northeast India, located at an altitude of 1520 meters. The lake is popularly referred to as Barapani (big water). The lake was built in the 1960s by constructing a dam upon the Umiam River. It was created to solve the water crisis of the local people during the summer months. This was also the first hydroelectric project in Northeast India. Because of its eclectic beauty, the lake has become a popular tourist spot because of its serene beauty and breathtaking views of the East Khasi Hills. Apart from the aforementioned locations, the pentad will provide scope of experiential pockets throughout the journey within the state of Meghalaya and during transiting pockets in Guwahati, through local rural tourism, near the LGBI Airport, Guwahati.
