Indigenous Immersion with the Yalawapiti and Huni Kuin People at Upper Xingu - Brazil

Mapulawashü is a big party that happens early in High Xingu, during the pequi fruit season. This event aims to feed the forest spirits and the owners of the pequi party, such as the alligators, hummingbirds, and other animal spirits. It is a fun party with many games between men and women; everyone sings along daily. It starts in the afternoon and goes until evening, starting again in the middle of the night and lasting until sunrise. 🌳 Yalawapiti & Huni Kuin 🌳 You will be privileged to participate in the exchange of knowledge between the Yalawapiti and Huni Kuin ethnicities, and other ethnicities from the upper Xingu will also participate. Strong female leaders like Anna Terra and Watatakalu Yalawapiti conceived the immersion, both of whom have remarkable stories of social transformation and women's empowerment. This knowledge exchange involves many cultural activities, ayahuasca ceremonies, and other medicines from the forest. The Upper Xingu The Indigenous territory of Xingu embraces 16 ethnicities. It has beautiful scenery and a rich diversity of cultures, and it will be hard not to get emotional with such a range of wisdom, deep knowledge, ancestrality, and lifestyle. It is located in Mato Grosso, precisely in the Pantanal (savannah), in the middle of the Amazon jungle. 🥘 FOOD INFORMATION 🥘 The meals are based on traditional Xingu cuisine, with fish, bijou, and other local ingredients. Sometimes, they are completed with city-sourced food, like rice, beans, and salads.
