Halloween Weekend in a Village in Serbia

Despite having some of the best nature, Serbia is little known to tourists. But if you embark on this adventure, you will have unique memories to last a lifetime! Our main base will be a village right outside Tara National Park called Bajna Bašta. We will rent an apartment (shared rooms or not). Serbia is also home to one of the first vampires, Sava Savanović. And did you know that the very word vampire, used around the world, is from the Serbian language? About the trip: We will meet at Užice bus station. We will rent a car because the watermill that Sava used to live in (and is now uninhabitable) is about an hour and a half away from Užice, and Užice is about an hour from Bajna Bašta, the village we will stay in. I am sure we will be hungry after all the traveling, so we will go to a restaurant in Bajna Bašta for some local food and get to know each other more, and share excitement about the weekend ahead. Since it is October and the weather will be chillier, we will likely not be able to kayak or summer activities. But we will go to the village of Sava Savanovič and see if we can find him. We will hike to see what's left of the watermill. Make sure to bring lots of garlic if you are scared. Perhaps a local from his village can tell us stories about some history. We will rent either a shared apartment or a house in Bajna Bašta, a village near Sava's village. We will hike (even see a monastery near Bajna Bašta) and take in the beauty of Serbian autumn. We do have the option of campfires, but we need to be responsible with a policy of leaving no trace.
