Safed
Tag 3-5
Tours in Old Safed, a city of the Kabbalists located in the heart of the Galilee, give us an opening to the impressive history of one of the four holy cities in the Jewish religion, and the changes it has undergone over the years. Old Safed reached its peak in the 16th century against the background of the prosperity brought with it by the textile industry. Along with the economic prosperity in ancient Safed, the occult doctrine - the Kabbalah - grew, by the great men of the generation, led by the holy Ari, Rabbi Moshe Cordovro and Rabbi Yosef Caro (author of the Shulchan Aruch). Something of the mystery, learning and spirit remains to this day in the alleys of old Safed from which a wonderful view of Mount Miron can be seen, and the tours include both the ancient places found in the Jewish quarter of old Safed, and the picturesque alleys and the artists' quarter that have developed in recent years. The special atmosphere of Safed touches everyone who visits it. The beauty of Mount Miron seen from it, the picturesque alleys, the combination of the different communities. Alongside the ultra-Orthodox community and the beautiful synagogues you will also find artisans and craftsmen, restaurants, cheese makers and wineries and of course plenty of stories and legends. All these make the tour of Old Safed an unforgettable spiritual, authentic, artistic and culinary experience. This is one of the most beautiful and enjoyable sections of the Israel Trail - with flowing water, bathing options and tall trees. The length of the track is about 14 km. Recommended season is possible all year round, but not after rain when the path is muddy. Recommended in weather suitable for bathing in water. The last part is mostly exposed to the sun and is less suitable on a very hot day. Therefore, in the summer it is recommended to follow a shortened route that focuses on the sections where there is water - between Miron and the Shkoi pools or the Chois bush.
