Hi, future tripmates and friends, Ready to explore Sofia together? Let's indulge in Bulgarian cuisine and culture by attending a traditional folk dance show (we could also dance together with the locals), visiting local markets, and trying out regional delicacies such as banitsa and rakia. We will spend quality time wandering in the streets of Sofia filled with rich history and architecture. Furthermore, we will also explore the surrounding natural beauty outside of Sofia. We will go on a day trip to the UNESCO Heritage Site of Rila Monastery (the oldest in Bulgaria) and we will visit the Rila Lakes for some breathtaking views.

About me: I’m Kish, a 25-year-young soul living in Germany. I have previously lived in multiple places including Sweden, Poland, UK. I have been on multiple trips through JoinMyTrip and a lot of trip mates suggested that I should organize trips as a trip leader. I happen to completely agree with them and here I am starting to organize. Accommodation: We will be staying in an amazing fully-equipped apartment in the city center. Everyone will have their own private bed but the rooms will be shared (2 people in each room). Let me know if you prefer a private room. I can try to accommodate the request. The apartment includes: 1. Kitchen 2. Garden 3. Air conditioning 4. Tag 1-2

This will be our arrival day. We will meet at our accommodation, in the afternoon or evening depending on everyone's arrival time. This day we will just stroll around the city a bit and explore the streets. We will visit the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral during sunset for some amazing views. We will have our first group dinner and drinks together in the evening to get to know each other.

Tag 2-3

On day 2, we will start with a cozy brekfast either at a cafe (I have some nice options) or at our apartment depending on everyone's preference. Then we stroll around the streets of Sofia visiting some landmarks such as St. George Rotunda, South park. If we have time, we could also visit Kapana district which is a neighbourhood with cute shops. We will also then go to some local places to taste Bulgarian delicacies like banitsa and ayran. In the evening will go to Hambara bar (a hidden bar) for drinks and have dinner nearby. We will have lots of time this day to get to know each other more!

Seven Rila Lakes

Tag 3

On day 3, we will take a day trip to Rila Monastery and Rila lakes. Rila Monastery is the largest and most famous Eastern Orthodox monastery in Bulgaria. It is situated in the southwestern Rila Mountains at an elevation of 1,147 m (3,763 ft) above sea level. The Seven Rila Lakes are a group of glacial lakes, situated in the Rila Mountain in Bulgaria. They are the most visited group of lakes in Bulgaria. The lakes are situated between 2,100 and 2,500 metres elevation above sea level. We will have some breath-taking views over here. We need to depart early around 8 am and we will back by evening.

Tag 3-4

We will be a bit exhausted from the previous day, so on day 4, we start slow. We have a late breakfast or brunch together. Then we have a private guided walking tour scheduled with a local in the afternoon. The tour will last 1.5 hours. Then we can rest for some time (1-2 hours) either a park or a pub. In the evening we will experience a local traditional folk dance. Get ready to dance it out. We will have a 1 hour dance session. So, we will dress up in the traditional costume and dance together. Don't worry, I am an absolute beginner at dancing. I am pretty sure you wont be worse than me. Let's be worse at it together and have fun!

Sofia

Tag 4-5

Finally, the day to say goodbye! Although, it was short, we would have had an amazing time together. So, get ready say goodbye and hopefully make plans to catch up again. On day 5, depending on everyone's departure times, we will probably split into groups. We will try to have one final brunch or breakfast together. Then all of us who have some time left, we have a few options to do some activities. We can discuss the details once the tripmates are confirmed.
