Portugal is one of the hotspots these days in terms of traveling, its highlights being, for good reasons, Lisbon, Porto and Algarve, but this small country has a lot more to offer. Sintra-Cascais Natural Park is situated 28 km away from Lisbon and it stands out for the unique hikes on the mountain and along the ocean coast, the stunning views, the small fisherman villages and its pristine beaches. It is also the perfect place for yoga lovers and surf adventurers. 🌊 I have planned the perfect itinerary for ocean enthusiasts, sunset seekers and sporty ones. However, your wishes come first and we can adapt the plan on the way. I included hikes, beach tours, surf and yoga classes, cultural visits and some other surprises. 🙋🏻‍♀️ About myself: I am 26 years old, I am originally from Romania, living in Portugal for 3 years. I explored in depth most of the beauties this country has to offer and my friends are calling me a "beach-ologist". My travel style is active, but totally flexible. 💸 The trip cost includes the tour itself, accommodation in a nice and cozy BnB close to the beach - your choice (bunk bed in a 4 people room or private double room), breakfast, rental car transportation (including airport), 1 surf lesson and 1 yoga class. 💬 If you feel like exploring unique places, meet new and easy-going travelers and find new journeys & adventures near the ocean, feel free to message me and tell me a bit about yourself and what you would most like to see in Portugal.

Praia das Maçãs

Tag 1-8
Praia das Maçãs will be our camp base. Praia das Maçãs is a small village by the sea with a quite famous beach among Lisboetas. It is well located in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, it has grocery stores, and plenty of restaurants and bars.
2

Azenhas do Mar

Tag 8
Day 1 of hike will get us first at Azenhas do Mar. A little slice of Greece in Portugal, this quaint seaside town nestled on the cliffside will bring the photographer out in you. Azenhas do Mar means Watermills of the Sea, and the name derives from a once-powerful stream that moved the watermills as it made its way to the sea. After Azenhas do Mar we will continue our journey to Praia do Magoito. Located at the end of a deep valley and enclosed by majestic cliffs, which provide some of the best views of the beautiful surroundings, Magoito Beach is only reached by descent down a steep slope. However, this pollution free and iodine rich environment more than compensate for any effort incurred.

Ursa Beach

Tag 8
Day 2 of hiking will get us through stunning remote beaches and views from the cliffs until Praia da Adraga which will be our first stop. Nestling between cliffs artistically sculpted out by the sea, Adraga Beach is a firm summer favourite, but also enjoys a loyal off-season clientele. They come for the well-preserved and natural environment, to which the rocks, grottoes and tunnels add a picturesque dimension. The second stop of the day will be at Praia da Ursa. Unspoilt and wild, this little beach is often cited as one of the most beautiful in the area. The name of the beach comes from the "Rocha da Ursa" (bear rock) one of two huge sea stacks at the northern end of the beach. It is said that the rock resembles a bear with its cub, although I can't quite see this myself! This beach is a little off the beaten track and access is difficult to say the least. It involves a bit of a scrabble down a steep sided valley with plenty of loose rocks under foot. Maybe this is why Praia da Ursa is one of the area's unofficial naturist beaches.
4

Cabo da Roca

Tag 8
A new day will bring us to Cabo da Roca. Breaking waves, rocky shores and windswept cliffs, Cabo da Roca ticks all the boxes, with one added bonus—it’s the westernmost point of mainland Europe. For a while, this was considered the end of the world, and you’ll see why, as there’s nothing but water for miles ahead. From Cabo da Roca we will continue our journey to Cascais, which is a traditional and charming Portuguese fishing town with a unique natural pool in the center. Here we would walk by the cost to Boca de Inferno, an impressive sea-arch and cliff formation.
5

Sintra

Tag 8
A world heritage site, we now come to Sintra itself. The town is a pioneer work of European romanticism and when you stroll its streets you can easily see why the previous Kings of Portugal used to spend their Summers in this magical place. One of the finest tourist attractions of Portugal and exemplifies the 19th century Romanticism style of architecture, Pena Palace is definitely the busiest and most popular sight to see. The Quinta da Regaleira is a gothic style 20th century residence split over five floors. However, the real attraction is it’s enchanting gardens styled to represent ancient secret orders, with hidden tunnels and concealed symbolism. Stepping into this place is like walking onto the set of Game of Thrones.
6

Ericeira

Tag 8
Ericeira, perched on high cliffs some thirty meters above a string of sandy beaches, has benefited greatly from its location. A small fishing village whose name derives from sea urchins (Ouricos do Mar) and where shellfish are still reared in tanks that can be seen at the bottom of the cliffs, Ericeira is home to one of the very few natural harbours between Cascais and Peniche.
