While staying in the stunning capital of Hungary, Budapest, come to Discover the beautiful area of the Danube turns, north from Budapest. The first 3 days of the trip, we will have daily bike rides of 15-50 km, eating traditional Hungarian dishes, while moving our body. The weekend we can wonder around Budapest, getting an insight to hidden places on the city, checking the nightlife if you are into that! ;)

About me: I have completed a BsC in Economics and an MsC in Development Economics at the University of Amsterdam, worked in sociology research for 10 months, sailed across the Atlantic and in the Caribbean for 8 months, been a Waldorf kindergarten teacher, table tennis trainer, waitress. I very much know the bike paths north from Budapest, around the Danube, and would love to show you around. Having grown up in Budapest, I would like to introduce you to some of the local specialities, hidden spots of the city, and best bars/clubs.

Accommodation: Depending on the number of people willing to come, you will be staying in a beautiful Airbnb flat (or flats) in the downtown of Budapest, where single or double rooms are available. We will organize sleeping in a way that is comfortable for all, so if you prefer to stay on your own, if in a couple, we will find a way to do so. Do you have a question? Ask in the Q&A!

Piknik Manufaktúra

Tag 1-2

During our first bike tour, we will stop in some local bars/restaurants, such as Piknik Manufaktura, where we can enjoy a nice lunch/drink and then continue our bike trip. From Piknik, it's possible to see the stunning Visegrad Castle on the other side of the river (second picture). The most amazing part, however, is the path leading there, always by the side of the Danube, biking in peace.

Zebegényi Rétesház

Tag 2-3

The best strudel spot of Hungary will just be on our way during the second day, which is absolutely unmissable. Strudels have been traditionally made in Hungary forever and at this place you get them warm, that's how fresh they are! You can choose from fillings such as cottage cheese, poppy seed, sour-cherry, chocolate, apple, cabbage, feta cheese and spinach and many more!!

Szentendre

Tag 3-4

Szentendre lies 22 km away from Budapest, a perfect destination for a day bike ride. Cobblestone streets, pastel colored buildings, cute squares, narrow alleys and churches with long spires. Is it a must-see, when you are in Budapest, really sweet little town, with local goods to try of course!

Margaret Island

Tag 4-5

Saturday we will be walking around the city, checking out parks and sightseeing musts in Budapest. Margaret Island lies in the middle of the city, on the Danube, where you can chill on the grass, play frisbee, go for a run, but also just walk around and enjoy nature on a nice weekend day.

Buda Castle

Tag 5

The Buda Castle is the historical castle and palace complex of the Hungarian Kings in Budapest. Walking around in the most ancient part of the city is stunning, the views on the city is amazing. Attractions such as the Labyrinth or Cave system is one of the most visited ones under the Buda Castle Hill. While checking this site out, we will also walk to Gellért Hill, check the Liberty Statue, and have a look at the city from another point of view.
