My name is Swiss, I'm running an Eco-Tourism/Volunteering focused project and I’m looking for like-minded travelers who want a holiday retreat while also contributing to the community to join me for a Co-living/Volunteering Trip at Khao Lampi-Hat Thai Mueang National Park in Phang Nga, Thailand. *Only 2 spots* Now we have other 2 volunteers and me joining in this project.
We will stay in a shared-house provided by a National Park where we will spend several hours a day engaging in hands-on conservation efforts, aiding in turtle care, environmental cleanup, and data collection. Tasks vary to match current needs, including creating educational signs and conducting wildlife surveys.
About the Park: Khao Lampi-Hat Thai Mueang National Park, located in Thai Mueang District, Phang Nga Province, is a 5-star beach recognized by the Pollution Control Department, Water Quality Management Bureau, and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. This park features an unspoiled ecosystem, natural beauty, tranquility, and is largely untouched by tourism.
The nearby beach is about 40 meters wide and 14 kilometers long, featuring clean, white sand, tranquility, and various coastal plants. It is a nesting site for sea turtles and a habitat for numerous bird species.
Daily Tasks:
- Care for and feed turtles, collect data to observe them, and ensure they are ready to be released back into the ocean.
- Join National Park rangers to survey hiking trails.
- Create and proofread English signs for tourists.
- Collect bird and butterfly survey data.
- Join rangers in beach cleanups.
- (If you have scuba diving license) Dive with rangers to survey and photograph coral reefs.
Living Arrangements:
- Stay in National Park-provided houses with shared/private bedrooms.
- Food areas are around 2 km away, accessible by provided bicycles.
- Safe bicycle routes are designed for public exercise.
- Comfortable accommodations with park staff, meals nearby, and bicycles for easy access.
About internet access, a local SIM card (usually costing around 10-15 euros) works just fine in the area and provides enough high-speed internet for work. I often share a hotspot from my phone to work because I travel a lot. Additionally, WiFi will be provided in the accommodation.
Free Time Activities:
- Explore Lampi Waterfall
- Enjoy cycling and hiking within the park.
- Participate in local cultural activities and excursions.
- Explore nearby attractions like Phuket, Phi Phi Island, and Krabi.
This Trip is Suitable For:
- Open-minded travelers.
- Those who prefer a slow-paced travel experience surrounded by nature.
- Individuals seeking a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
- Physically fit people ready for activities like hiking, biking, and diving. (doesn't need to be super fit)
