Are you ready to join me on a trip full of adventures? I have been to Ukraine before and I´m very excited to go back. We will meet in Kyiv and explore the city together to see the best sightseeing spots there. From Kyiv, we will take a day trip to the Chernobyl area where a guide will show us around. There is still high radiation but it's totally safe to visit for a short time. We will also go explore some hidden and secret parts of Kyiv - we visit an authentic old nuclear bunker and also walk through the underground tunnel system of the city. In total we will be able to see 7 lost places! About me: I’m Kathi, 25 years old and from Vienna. I already organized many JoinMyTrip group trips and it was always a lot of fun! You can find all my trips when you click on my profile. How to dress: Before the trip, you will get a packing list with some recommended things to pack for this trip. All the special gear will be provided. It's important to wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty or be thrown away after visiting certain places. At one location it is necessary to be dressed all back. If you have any health problems please let me know, the trip might not be suitable for you. Tag 1-3
We will all meet in Kyiv and start exploring the city together the next day. We will see the main sights of Kyiv such as St. Sophia Cathedral and the Cave Monastery. In the next couple of days, we will visit seven different lost places.

Tschernobyl
Tag 3
We will take a day tour to the Chernobyl exclusion zone - this is where the reactor accident took place in 1986. Equipped with a Geiger Counter, a guide will show us the abandoned area. Although the radiation is still high in parts, it is not harmful during a short stay. Few people still live in the exclusion area, they never left. Because of tourism, some workers live close to the area, but they work in shifts to minimize radiation exposure.

Prypjat
Tag 3
Part of our Chernobyl-Tour is the ghost town of Pripyat. More than 49,000 residents left the city, which was just three kilometers from the power plant and part of Chernobyl’s exclusion zone. We will see many abandoned houses, and of course, the famous ferries wheel that you might have seen in pictures before. In this area nature rules and many animals came back to the city such as bears, wolves, moose, and dogs. Also, more than 200 species of birds have formed their own ecosystem within the Chernobyl disaster area.

Equipped with rubber boots, flashlight, and helmet, we venture underground! Kyiv has a huge underground tunnel system, you will even find underground rivers. But don´t worry: at the end of the 19th-century engineers separated the sewage and underground water systems, so Kyiv's underground rivers have clean water and the tunnels don´t smell. This activity is only for people in good health condition and who are not claustrophobic. We will also visit a forgotten civilian bunker and see how it feels to have to hide there. An adventurous day!

Our next spot will be an abandoned bus graveyard. Only a few people know about this place and even less know how to enter it. To visit this place we might have to split the group in two, as we don´t want to be noticed. We will sneak into the old soviet bus depot and take amazing pictures. The last lost place that we visit will be a tank cemetery. The place is called Armor Factory, its a guarded military warehouse, where we will be able to see lots of old tanks.

Of course, we also have to enjoy the nightlife of Kyiv! In the evening I will show you a very unusual bar that I discovered last time I was in Kyiv, the waiters are dressed up as doctors. The party szene there can be quite crazy with drinking games where they set your head on fire or hit your head if you don't drink up fast enough. It will be fun!
