We’ll stay in a small hamlet tucked away in the Lattari Mountains. A charming southern Italian village with an intimate feel. This little place is postcard-perfect. Cobblestone alleyways between stone houses, windows decorated with flowers. Narrow pathways open up to cozy squares where locals gather to chat. Here, life moves at a slower pace. You’ll see locals working in their garden, some might be pruning grapevines or picking lemons. It’s a sneak peak to authentic Italian village life, far from the crowds of the Amalfi Coast.Walking through the village, you’ll see domestic animals in small stables, like goats and donkeys.

Hi, I’m Vero, and I host this hiking tour with my partner Alex. He’s from Austria, and I’m from Hungary. We’re both passionate about Italy and love hiking and being outdoors. I speak fluent English, Italian, and Hungarian. Alex speaks fluent German and English. I used to live in Italy for many years, and now we are in the process of moving to the Amalfi Coast. As local expats, we have great knowledge of the area and hike often in these mountains. We’re excited to share some of our favorite routes with you!

Corpo di Cava

Tag 1-6
The Village We Will Stay In: Our hamlet is part of the city of Cava de’ Tirreni. And has a truly rural, even remote feel. There are restaurants within walking distance and pizzeria. There’s also a small bar. And a tiny mini-market for the essentials. Although it feels remote, the village is well-connected to Cava de’ Tirreni. A frequent bus will take you to the city center in under 15 minutes. There you can find bigger supermarkets, ice cream shops, or go for a drink at one of the many pubs. The famous Benedictine Abbey is only five minutes from our accommodation. The area is surrounded by lush forests. Countless hiking trails start right here. Nearby, you’ll find the forgotten ruins of a Roman aqueduct. A short hike will take you to a hidden waterfall. Following the river upstream leads to this secret waterfall, nearly 20 meters high. In its crystal-clear pools, you might even spot minnows. In its crystal-clear pools, you might even spot little tritons.

Around the “Borghi” of Vietri sul Mare Borghi refers to small, traditional villages. Often centuries-old, with narrow cobblestone streets, stone houses, and simple yet charming buildings. They are painted rural scenes, in real-life. There are many of these tiny hamlets scattered across the Amalfi Coast. Each with its own unique character. We will have a long but pleasant hike, from our little village down to the seaside. On the way we visit many small hamlets of the Amalfi Coast, most of them unseen by tourists. Instead of taking the paved roads, we’ll walk the ancient mulattieri trails. These ancient paths, where used by locals for centuries, before the main road was even built. The name “mulattieri” comes from the Italian word “mulo” (donkey). These ancient paths were mainly used to carry goods with donkeys. They transported harvested lemons, wood, and other items. We pass by one of the best-kept secret villages of the Amalfi Coast, the fabulous Albori.

We’ll visit the lively port, where fishermen untangle their nets after returning from the sea. If the weather’s good, we can swim at the beach.
