Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (Marangu Gate, 1860m), is where your trek will begin, and you will be hiking through the dense Kilimanjaro rainforest. Alongside the impressive vegetation, you will have the chance to catch a glimpse of black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys and various bird species. Altitude gain: 1860m to 2700m, Distance (one way): 8 km, hiking time: 3 - 4 hours up / 2 - 3 hours down, Habitat: Mountain Forest. Tarangire National Park is known for its majestic Baobab trees. These can grow to an enormous size and have a unique shape. The Park is also famous as it has the largest concentration of elephants in the world! You can see herds of up to 300 elephants around the Tarangire River. Now, isn't that amazing! The River is the primary source of fresh water for the animals. In the dry season, they come here to drink or just to enjoy a bath to cool off from the hot sun. During the end of dry season, elephants dig into the riverbed to reveal underground water, or are looking for Baobab trees to slake their thirst. Serengeti National Park offers so much more beauty than just the wildebeest migration. You can see a variety of landscapes and wildlife unlike anywhere else in Africa. The endless plains are home to more than 4,000 lions, 1,000 leopards, 225 cheetahs and 3,500 hyenas. It’s no surprise there are so many predators due to the abundance of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles and buffaloes. The Serengeti is also one of the best places to see the Big Five – rhino, buffalo, elephant, lion and leopard. Almost all the famous African animals are present in this majestic park. This includes rare animal species like the pangolin, East African Oryx, rhino and wild dog. The captivating landscapes of the Serengeti National Park vary from Savannah with acacia trees and vast grasslands to rising mountains, lakes and swamps. Each area is unique and has its own atmosphere. Because of its natural beauty and variety of plants and animals, the park is listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site. This place definitely touches your soul. The famous Ngorongoro Crater is the main feature of this area. Two to three million years ago, the large volcano exploded and collapsed on itself. As a result, the crater formed, which then created a unique ecosystem with a wide variety of vegetation. Today, the crater is home to the highest concentration of wildlife in Africa. It is home to zebras, buffaloes, warthogs, baboons, elephants, flamingos, ostriches and hippos. You can find a high population of predators, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and leopards. And a big attraction of the Ngorongoro Crater are of course the Big Five – buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, rhino. You can see them all in these 20 kilometers (12,5 miles) wide and 600 meters (2,000 feet) deep crater. Enjoy the variety of animals and beautiful colors of the landscapes.
