Getting There Yogyakarta has its own airport, Yogyakarta International Airport, which receives flights from major cities in Indonesia as well as from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. From the airport, you can take a taxi or a shuttle bus to get to your hotel or other destination in the city. You can also reach Yogyakarta by train or bus from other cities in Java. Culture and Attractions Yogyakarta is a city steeped in culture and history, and there are numerous attractions to explore. One of the most popular is the ancient temple complex of Borobudur, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Borobudur is the largest Buddhist temple in the world and dates back to the 9th century. Another popular temple complex is Prambanan, which is a Hindu temple complex and also a UNESCO World Heritage site. For nature lovers, Yogyakarta offers plenty of opportunities to explore the outdoors. One of the most popular destinations is Mount Merapi, an active volcano located just outside the city. Visitors can take a hiking tour to the summit of the volcano and enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. The city is also surrounded by beautiful beaches, including Parangtritis Beach and Krakal Beach. Food and Accommodation Yogyakarta offers a wide range of accommodation options, from budget hostels to luxury hotels.
