Ultimate Hong Kong Trip - City Sights and Hidden Gems

We will meet at our accommodation in Hong Kong. Once everyone arrived, we will have a traditional dinner together. Get a bit of a rest because tomorrow we start exploring! If you arrive early, you can plan some extra activities :)

Just an hour away, but quite different from Hong Kong, is Macau: the mega-resort and casino center that also has interesting historical sights. We will take a bus to Macau and explore the city by foot. Ruins of St. Paul's: Start your day by visiting Macau's most famous landmark. Take in the impressive facade and explore the surrounding area, which includes small shops selling local snacks and souvenirs. Senado Square: Walk down to Senado Square, a lively public square with Portuguese-style architecture. Enjoy the beautiful mosaic pavement and explore nearby St. Dominic's Church. A-Ma Temple: If time permits, visit this ancient temple dedicated to the sea goddess Mazu, one of the oldest and most culturally significant temples in Macau. Local Cuisine: Before leaving, grab a quick bite of Macanese food, such as a Portuguese egg tart or a pork chop bun, from a nearby bakery or café.

Hong Kong city tour: Discover the history of Hong Kong on a guided tour of the city. Ride the historic Peak Tram, explore Old Town Central, ride the longest outdoor escalator, and savor dim sims at Tim Ho Wan restaurant.

Morning: The Dark Side of the City Walking Tour: While Hong Kong is known as a thriving international finance center, visitors are often only shown the bright side of the city, with popular attractions like The Peak, Victoria Harbour, and Big Buddha taking center stage. But what about the 1.5 million people living in poverty, making Hong Kong one of the most unequal places on earth? Our tour delves into the heart of Hong Kong’s capitalist system, giving you a first-hand look at the grim reality many of its citizens face. You’ll visit a subdivided unit in one of the city’s poorest districts, providing a stark contrast to the economic prosperity that seems so abundant. Afternoon: Ladies' Market & Mong Kok: Experience the energy of Mong Kok, where you can shop for fashion, electronics, and souvenirs. Don’t miss the famous Ladies’ Market for a wide range of affordable goods. Evening: Avenue of Stars: Visit this promenade dedicated to Hong Kong cinema, with handprints of famous stars. Enjoy views of Hong Kong Island and the harbor.

The next morning, we will have breakfast together and check out of our accommodation. You can continue your own journey or take your flight back home. Hopefully we will see each other on another trip!
