I have spent countless hours researching the best company for this trek—ensuring the right balance of cost, safety, and service. Some operators rush trekkers, increasing the risk of altitude sickness, while others lack experienced guides. The company I’ve chosen has proven expertise and has been consistently recommended. Their team has a deep knowledge of the route, ensuring a smooth, safe, and enjoyable adventure. They are responsive, welcoming, and highly experienced—a company I trust completely. While this is not the cheapest trek online, it is fairly priced for the quality and service you’ll receive. If anyone wants to get sponsored to help cover costs or raise money for charity, feel free to send me the logo—we’ll get it printed on the team hoodies!
👋🏽 I am 31, a Nepali citizen, and have been exploring the incredible natural beauty of my country for years. Nepal is home to some of the world’s most stunning landscapes, and I’m passionate about trekking, adventure, and sharing these experiences with others. I’m thrilled to guide you on this journey to Rara Lake, one of Nepal’s most breathtaking hidden gems!
Throughout the Rara Lake Trek, you will be staying in simple yet comfortable tea houses and guesthouses. These are family-run establishments that provide a warm, welcoming atmosphere, offering trekkers a chance to experience the hospitality of the local people. The rooms are basic, often with twin-sharing beds, but they provide all the necessary amenities such as blankets, pillows, and warm clothing for the cold nights. You can expect shared bathroom facilities with basic plumbing, and hot water may be available at select locations for an additional charge. This trip includes: ➡️ Accommodation in teahouses during the trek (shared rooms, varying in gender & number of people) ➡️ All meals while trekking: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner ➡️ Breakfasts in Kathmandu ➡️ Farewell cultural dinner on the final day ➡️ Activities as per the itinerary ➡️ All necessary car transfers ➡️ Round-trip flights from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj and Nepalgunj to Jumla ➡️ Custom expedition team hoodies ➡️ Experienced & knowledgeable Nepalese trekking guides ➡️ Experienced porters for carrying luggage ➡️ Rara National Park entry permit ➡️ Local area trekking permits ➡️ Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) card ➡️ Tips for mountain porters and guides ➡️ Duffle bags for expedition gear ➡️ Pre-departure guidance & assistance with logistics ➡️ Destination-specific WhatsApp group to answer travel questions & connect with the group Exclusions: ➡️ International flights ➡️ All drinks (e.g., $3-4 for soda, $2-3 for tea/coffee, $7-8 for beer—mountain prices; Kathmandu is cheaper) ➡️ Lunches & dinners in Kathmandu (except for the farewell dinner, approx. $25 for a full meal) ➡️ Approx. $96 for charging electronics & hot showers at teahouses ➡️ Personal trekking gear & equipment ➡️ Travel & medical insurance (including emergency rescue coverage) ➡️ Nepal visa ($30 for most nationalities) While the accommodation is simple, the peaceful, off-the-beaten-path locations and the stunning natural beauty that surrounds you make for a truly memorable and authentic experience. In the higher altitude regions, the guesthouses are cozy and allow you to interact with locals, learn about their culture, and relax after a rewarding day of trekking. The evenings in the tea houses are spent around a warm fire, enjoying traditional Nepali food and conversing with fellow trekkers or locals. Please note that facilities become more basic as you ascend, but the welcoming atmosphere and the chance to immerse yourself in the rural Nepali lifestyle make it all part of the adventure. 🗺 ITINERARY: The trek follows a set schedule, but weather conditions may cause slight changes.
