Trip Itinerary

Colombo
Day 1-3
After arriving in Colombo Int. Airport we will spend 1-2 nights in either Mount Lavinia. or Colpetty this is generally the transit point upon arrival or before departure. We will stay away from the busy capitol but still close enough to discover the hustle and bustle of the commercial capitol, populated with 7-8 million people. A Tuk Tuk experience is a must do.

Dambulla
Day 3-4
This would be our second stop. Dambulla Cave temple is a Unesco world heritage site. Its construction is dating back to the 2nd century BC. The art and its history makes you speechless. The most impressive and preserved cave temple in Sri Lanka.

Sigiriya
Day 4-5
The word Sigiriya or the Sinhagiri means the Lion's Rock where you have to climb up 1200 steps before you reach the Lion Rock Fortress on top of Sigiriya. There are several platforms that break up the steps and allow for a little break if you need it.

Polonnaruwa
Day 5
Polonnaruwa is the Island's 2nd largest kingdom. Today the ancient city of Polonnaruwa remains one of the best planned Archeological relic sites in the country, standing testimony to the discipline and greatness of the Kingdom's first rulers. Its beauty and serenity was captured in the Duran Duran music video Save a Prayer in 1982. The ancient city of Polonnaruwa has been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO. The Lankathilaka temple and a colossal statue of the Buddha made from stone is located here.

Ella
Day 5-8
The next destination would be Ella (The central highlands of Sri Lanka) Ella is known for the beautiful views, the train tracks and some breathtaking hikes. The night/early morning temperature sometimes can get bit chilly, so take one sweater :) while in Ella, we will do a sunrise hike, a waterfall/stream exploration and visit some nice cafes.

Udawalawe National Park
Day 8
Udawalawe is undoubtedly the best place in Sri Lanka to see wild Asian Elephants throughout the year: there are about 500 elephants in the park and they often roam in herds of up to 100. Apart from Elephants, there are Sri Lankan sambar deer, Sri Lankan axis deer, Sri Lankan spotted chevrotain, wild boar and water buffalo are among other mammal species. Golden jackal, Asian palm civet, toque macaque, tufted grey langur also inhabit the park.

Mirissa Beach
Day 8-11
Mirissa - Unawatuna - Galle - Weligama - After Udawalawa Nationa Park, we will go direction south beaches. that's where you get the daily dose of vitamin D. The south of Sri Lanka is full of small beach towns. we would either stay in one place or stay the whole time in a central location
