Hello there! I’m Roque and, as a Brazilian who loves to travel, I want to take you with me to show you this less known beautiful part of my country. You can get to know more about me through either my Facebook (Roque Melo) or Instagram (rokitomelo) profiles.

About the accommodation: During this 10 days trip we’re gonna stay in hotels (from 3 to 4 stars). At my age, (I’m 61), I really value comfort and, although the region we will be visiting and the villages where we’ll be staying are very simple and rustic, I chose only accomodations where we can really relax and rest after the day’s adventures. Yes, as I am a bit adventurous as well, you shoud expect a mix of adventure and relax on this trip. All our transfers and tours will be done in private vehicles with driver - there will be only our group in the vehicle. You have questions? Feel free to reach out to me in the Q&A section below!

São Luís

Day 1-2
Sao Luis was founded by the French in 1612, during a French invasion on this Portuguese territory. It was named after the French king Louis XIII. The French invasion did’t last much and just a few years later, the Portuguese recovered the territory. Nowadays São Luis is the capital of the State of Maranhao. Despite the fact that the city is quite old, there’s no much to see or do. But our adventure (the “Route of Emotions”) starts here. We will stay here for a night (at Louzeiro Hotel) and the next morning, just after breakfast, we will board an off-road vehicle heading to Santo Amaro, at the “Lençois Maranhenses National Park”.
2

Santo Amaro do Maranhão

Day 2-4
After checking-in in our hotel (Pousada Rancho das Dunas) and having lunch (not included), we will visit some lagoons, walk on the dunes, swim in the crystal clear waters and watch the sunset. Santo Amaro is a very small village and everything is very rustic and simple. At night we will find a restaurant to dine and have some drinks (not included). On our second day here, after breakfast we will board an off-road vehicle to explore the park visiting more lagoons. Then we will take a little boat which will take us to a restaurant for lunch (not included). This boat cross costs around €4 (four euros) per person. After lunch, we will continue our journey through the park and head back to our hotel. At night we will find some other restaurant for dinning and some drinks.
3

Parnaíba

Day 4-6
After breakfast we will drive to Parnaiba, in the State of Piaui. This drive will take around 4:30 hours and will be the longest in our trip. In Parnaiba we will stay at Casa Santo Antonio Hotel. After this drive, we will have the rest of the afternoon to relax by the pool. At night we will have dinner and drinks in some restaurant in town (not included). On our second day here, after breakfast we will take a boat to visit some islands in the Parnaiba River’s islands. We will stop for lunch (not included) on some of these islands. Then the boat will take us to “Caju Bay” where we could walk on the dunes and swim. And finally we will head to a tiny island in the middle of the river’s delta to watch thousands of red birds flying back to their nests. At night, another dinner and drinks at some restaurant in town (not included).
4

Jericoacoara

Day 6-8
After breakfast we will drive on an off-road vehicle to Jericoacoara, in the State of Ceará. Although the distance is approximately 220 km, we will take about 7 hours to get there because we will make some stops along the way for refreshing, lunch (not included) and pictures of some special places. In Jericoacoara we will be staying at the Hurricane Hotel - this will probably be the best hotel of our entire trip. At night we’ll gonna find some restaurant in the village for our dinner and some drinks (not included). On our second day here a buggy will take us for a tour that includes the Holed Rock, Preá Beach, Blue Lagoon with a stop for lunch at Paradise Lagoon (not included). After lunch we will head back to the hotel driving on the dunes. At night, another dinner and drinks (not included) at some restaurant in the village.
5

Fortaleza

Day 8-10
After breakfast we will leave for Fortaleza in an off-road vehicle. Fortaleza is the capital of the State of Ceará. Here is our final destination and we will be staying at Luzeiros Hotel. In Fortaleza we won’t have a car and driver at our disposal anymore and, for any tour, we will have to use either a taxi or uber (not included). At night we will go out for dinner and some drinks at some restaurant. The next day we will head to Futuro Beach and spend the day swimming and relaxing at some beach club (not included). Late afternoon we will head back to the hotel and get ready for our last night together. The morning after, after packing, we will leave for the airport and I will accompany each of you to board your flight back home.
