Trip Itinerary

Porto
Day 1
Day 1: Exploring the city of Porto and Port wine We meet in Porto at one of the most beautiful train stations in the world, "São Bento" Station. Crossing Porto's most famous bridge over the Douro River, the "Ponte Dom Luis I", we will reach Vila Nova de Gaia. In one of the cellars we will taste different types of Port wine. For lunch, we'll try delicious "bacalhau" (codfish), as well as amazing "pastéis de nata" for dessert. Walking along the riverbank, we'll get the best photos and views of Ribeira. We will also take a look at the World of Wine, and those who are willing will be able to visit selected museums (e.g. The Wine Experience, Planet Cork, Pink Palace or The Chocolate Story). In the late afternoon, we'll take the metro to the airport for our flight to São Miguel, the largest and most populous island in Portugal's Azores archipelago. On this island, we spend 2 nights in a luxury resort in double rooms with bathrooms (breakfast included).

São Miguel Island
Day 1-3
Day 2: Discovering natural treasures on the São Miguel island After breakfast we will visit the "Arruda" pineapple plantation (Fajã de Baixo), followed by a Landscape Park (lagoon and geysers) "Fumarolas Lagoa das Furnas". For lunch we will try "Cozido das Furnas", a stew cooked underground by steam from the volcano. For dessert, a visit at the geothermal pools "Poça da Dona Beija", where you can feel like in paradise. Then a drive to the "Chá Gorreana" tea plantation. Along the way we will stop at several interesting viewpoints. Dinner at one of the restaurants in Ponta Delgada and return to the hotel.

Pico Island
Day 3-5
Day 3: From São Miguel to Pico island After breakfast, ride to Sete Cidades with stops at spectacular viewpoints. After an early lunch, transfer to the airport and fly to the island of Pico, dominated by the volcano of the same name, which is the highest mountain in Portugal. "9 Senses – The Experience" wine tasting at Picowines (the largest and oldest wine producer in the Azores). Then transfer to the hotel, where we will spend 2 nights in double rooms with bathrooms (breakfast included). Possibility to have dinner in the hotel restaurant.

Pico Island
Day 5
Day 4: On the wine route After breakfast, travel to the viewpoint "Moinho das Lajes". For those who wish, a visit to the whaling museum "Museu dos Baleeiros". Natural pools, church, walk around the town. Lunch at a local restaurant. Walk overlooking the vineyards ("Criação Velha" and "Moinho Do Frade"). This landscape is so rare and marvellous that it was officially declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004. Then visit to the distillery "Adega do Fogo" and lava formations (Cachorro). Walk through the vineyard of "Azores Wine Company" and dinner combined with "A Kind of Magic" wine tasting. Return to the hotel.

Faial Island
Day 5-6
Day 5: Exploring Faial island After breakfast, drive to the ferry terminal and transfer to Faial Island. Lunch at the famous sailor's bar "Peter Café Sport ", a distinctive cafe through which all the world's most famous sailors have passed. Then the volcanic center of Capelinhos, the black beach "Praia do Almoxarife" and the view of Pico peak. Transfer to hotel (1 night in double rooms with bathrooms, breakfast included) and free time. Optional at additional cost: horseback riding, scuba diving, hiking, yoga, meditation, coaching. Dinner at the hotel restaurant.

Lisbon
Day 6
Day 6: Goodbye to the Azores and back to the mainland After breakfast, transfer to the airport and fly to Lisbon. Depending on the return connections, possibility of a group walking tour of Lisbon (e.g. Lisbon Oriente area) and/or a joint farewell lunch/coffee/drink/photo. See you soon!!!
