Day 2-3
In the early morning, we embark on an exploration of the area, seeking out monkeys and birds amidst the vibrant tropical rainforest. After this immersive experience, we return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast. Following some relaxation time, we set out on a guided walk through the rainforest, during which our knowledgeable guide shares insights into the diverse life forms coexisting in nature's delicate balance. Along the way, we may encounter vibrant butterflies, frogs, and a symphony of bird calls, gaining a deeper understanding of the rich flora. Lunch is served upon our return to the lodge, providing a brief interlude to rest and enjoy the natural surroundings—whether it's a refreshing swim, a game of soccer, or a leisurely nap. In the afternoon, our adventure continues with a paddle canoe trip down the Cuyabeno River, winding through the dense jungle landscape. Along the riverbanks, we observe a myriad of wildlife, including monkeys, macaws, toucans, and sloths. A highlight is the opportunity to witness the enchanting pink river dolphins in the impressive river setting. Following breakfast, we engage in a captivating activity as we visit the Indigenous Siona community, gaining insights into their daily life in the Amazon Basin. A special demonstration awaits, offering a hands-on experience in crafting 'Cassave,' the typical manioc bread of the region. Our exploration extends to learning about the local customs and traditions that shape their past and present culture. After this enriching experience, we return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, our journey continues as we embark on a motorized canoe expedition upstream to reach the enchanting Laguna Grande. Navigating the lagoon, we delve into the intricacies of the 'Igapó,' an ecosystem characterized by the flooded forest dominated by majestic macrolobium trees. These trees provide a habitat for epiphytes and various bird species, including cormorants. As we explore the lagoon, a refreshing swim in its calm waters is complemented by witnessing the spectacular sunset over the Amazon region. The adventure persists into the evening as we immerse ourselves in observing the nocturnal fauna of the river landscape. Encounter species of bats and search for caimans as we traverse the waters before returning to the lodge.
