Trip Itinerary
1
Florence
Day 1-5
We will meet at the airport and take a shuttle to our hotel. We will explore the city and gather at a restaurant for a delicious, Italian meal and get to know each other. On our last day in Florence, you will have an opportunity to meet also the tripmates who will join for the extended wine tour.
2
Uffizi Gallery
Day 5
The Ufizzi Museum is one of the oldest museums in the world. It contains many works of Renaissance Art, including from Da Vinci and Michelangelo. If you love art, then this is the museum for you to enjoy.
3
Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore
Day 5
Filippo Brunelleschi, the father of Renaissance Architecture, was the mastermind behind the making of this red dome after the csthedral was domeless for an entire century. We will visit the dome, go to the top for panoramic views of Florence, and learn about the architect genius himself.
4
Ristorante Perseus
Day 5
Perseus is a local, Italian restaurant that serves authentic regional wine (it has the rooster on the bottle as the seal of approval by the Italian government). And you guessed it. They serve some of the best rated Steak Florentine in Florence. We will need reservations (as with most sit down eateries in Italy) so hopefully we can get in. (Restaurant is in Florence. Don't listen to the map).
5
Marmore Falls
Day 5
We will pack a picnic lunch for this day trip in the Italian nature. This area was built by the Romans to protect the area from a river. We will go hiking and see waterfalls. There will be plenty of photo taking opportunity.
6
Montefalco
Day 5-6
We will spend a night in this medieval town when we are finished with the nature day trip. Known as the balcony of Umbria, it is surrounded by vineyards, olives, and rolling, green hills. It has wine so exclusive that is not known outside of Italy. Some of the wines are the most expensive, but don't worry. We can still find a glass of wine for minimim 5 euros. We will also eat food from this region in small, family run restaurants where the dining room is downstairs. There is a little shopping to be done on the 200m long main street of the town. There is also a little art museum and small churches.
7
Montepulciano
Day 6-7
Our next wine stop will be Montepulciano, which is a picturesque, Renaissance town. We will stay the night in a hotel or apartment here. We will explore the town by day and have a more formal wine festivity in the evening. Red wine is said to be best here, but we will be the judge of that by the end of the night. The next day, we will part ways in Florence. But I hope to see you again on another trip!
