Trip Itinerary

Addis Ababa
Day 1-2
Arrive at Bole Addis Ababa International Airport ADD. We will begin our journey towards the south. This drive takes us through the scenic farmlands of the Gurage people. We will also drive through the Wolayta farmlands, which feature views of the lush green hills and valleys. On the way, we will site of Melka-Kunture prehistoric archeological and the stellar field of Tiya (UNESCO World Heritage Site).

Arba Minch
Day 2-3
After breakfast, we will start with our drive to Arbaminch, a beautiful city in southern Ethiopia and the gateway to visit various tribes of the south there we will visit the Dorze Village high up in the Guge Mountains.

Jinka
Day 3-4
Early in the morning drive to the shore of the lake to have a boat trip on Lake Chamo, A Boat trip on Lake Chamo is one of the best experiences in Ethiopia. We can spot many Hippos and the world's most spectacular concentrations of Giant Nile Crocodiles which measure about 6 meters!

Turmi
Day 4-5
After breakfast, we will leave Jinka and drive to Mursi village to experience and gain perspective of the Mursi tribe. They are renowned for the strange custom followed by their women who, on reaching maturity, have their lower lips slit and circular clay discs inserted. The Mursi women wear lip plates that they make from locally derived clay. The plates are considered an important aesthetic asset.

Day 5-6
We start driving south to Omorate to visit another tribe, the Dasenech (formerly known as Geleb), and one of their villages. These people inhabit the areas bordering Kenya, north of Lake Turkana, and they live on the east and west banks of the Omo River. After lunch we continue through the savannah along barely visible tracks, passing through a vast meadowland with shrubs and umbellifers (‘umbrella’ acacia trees) for an excursion to Morulle and Kangatan Village. After the visit, return across the river and proceed to the Karo village of Korcho, with a stunning location look in over the Omo River. The Karo people, while the smallest tribe of the Omo Valley in number, are also known to be the most decorated. After the visit, return to Turmi for another opportunity to see Jumping of the Bulls.

Hawassa
Day 6-7
In the morning after breakfast, you will head to Murulle to visit the Karo tribe, who are famous for their body painting. We will also admire the scenic view of the Omo River from the edge of the village. The Karo people use clays and locally available vegetable pigments to trace fantastic patterns on each other’s faces, chests, arms, and legs.

Addis Ababa
Day 7-8
Return to Addis Ababa, on the way you will visit the Dorze tribe, which is famed for their beehive-shaped houses and their weaving skills. Weaving is the primary profession for many Dorze. They are also farmers and prevent soil erosion by ingenious terracing of the mountainsides. We will pass through the Great Rift Valley, seeing more interesting villages and attractions. we will eat lunch at a local restaurant before our late afternoon arrival in Addis Ababa. We will enjoy one final cultural dinner with live dance performances at one of the best traditional Ethiopian restaurants before transferring to the airport for our departure.
