Whether you're a seasoned diver or just embarking on your underwater journey, the SS Yongala guarantees an otherworldly experience for all. This epic adventure spans 5 incredible days. On the first day, we'll gather in Townsville city, getting to know each other during a sunset stroll up Castle Hill and wrapping up the evening with a delightful shared meal. Day two is the moment we set sail for the SS Yongala, a three-hour boat journey that precedes two dives on this legendary wreck, each brimming with diverse marine life and unforgettable underwater moments. Day three brings a change of scenery, as we swap salty ocean water for the enchanting freshwater waterfalls of Crystal Creek, located just an hour from Townsville city. Here, we'll bask in the sun by the water's edge and savor delicious, fresh mango ice cream from the nearby big mango to cool off in the afternoon heat. Day four is all about more SS Yongala wonders. As we arrive at day five, our final departure day, we'll seize the opportunity to collect souvenirs at the Saturday morning markets. It's the perfect time to reminisce about our favorite moments from the dives and bid farewell over a scrumptious coffee at one of Townsville's finest coffee brewers. **Please note that due to the top of the wreck starting at approximately 16m and descending to a depth of roughly 30m, participants must hold a minimum Advanced level diving certificate to join this activity.

Three fantastic years in Townsville, where I completed my undergraduate studies, have made this place feel like home. But the real magic happens underwater, especially at the SS Yongala – my absolute favorite dive spot in the world! The colours and the mesmerizing creatures that call this shipwreck home are beyond compare, and I can promise you an incredible experience every time. My studies of marine life on the Great Barrier Reef means I can help you identify species and explain the fascinating processes that unfold beneath the waves if that piques your interest. Day 1-2

This five-day adventure unfolds with the comfort of staying at the same hotel accommodation throughout the journey. Our expedition commences and concludes in the vibrant heart of Townsville City. Upon arrival, we'll kickstart our bonding with a leisurely sunset stroll up Castle Hill and finishing the night with a shared meal.

Great Barrier Reef

Day 2-4

On the second and fourth days of our adventure, we will journey to the SS Yongala, a spectacular shipwreck located offshore. A three-hour boat ride will take us to this dive site, where we'll have the remarkable privilege of exploring the wreck during two distinct dives on each of these days. Each dive promises to be an unparalleled experience, featuring an array of marine life and unforgettable moments beneath the waves that you won't want to miss.

Crystal Creek

Day 4

During our brief hiatus from diving adventures, we'll immerse ourselves in the splendor of Crystal Creek's cascading waterfalls, conveniently situated just an hour's drive from Townsville city. As the sun graces us with its warmth, we'll revel in the serenity of the water's edge, and for an extra treat, we'll venture down the road to the iconic big mango, indulging in scrumptious, freshly-made mango ice cream to refresh our spirits under the afternoon sun. For this mini excursion we will be renting a car for the day!

As we reach our final day, it's time to bid farewell! To ensure a stress-free conclusion, I recommend opting for an afternoon or evening departure. This choice not only grants us ample time to explore the vibrant morning market but also allows us to join in one more meal together, right by the ocean side. It's the perfect way to wrap up our unforgettable journey.
