Derawan Island has several other Beautiful Island there are Maratua Island, Kakaban Island and Sangalaki Island, the Derawan Island also have several sandbars and atolls.
The Island, which were nominated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2005, are located in the Nothern Peninsula of sea waters that enter th territory of Berau regency, East Kalimantan province. Derawan Island has the best beaches, even has the third most abundant underwater natural wealth in the world after Raja Ampat, West Papua.
There are as many as 460 to 470 species that live in Derawan. This means that its biodiversity is second only to the Raja Ampat Island. The dominant species are Gobes, Wrasses and Damselfishes. Some species are protected animals such as Green Turtles, Hawksbill Turtles, Whales, Dolphins, Clams, Coconut Crabs, Mermaids, Barracuda Fish, Among other.
Coral Reefs in the Derawan Island are widespread throughout the Island and are Sanded. Some are Long Island, Masimbung, Buliulin, Pinaka, Tababinga and Muaras. The types of Coral reefs in the Derawan Island are Edge Corals, Barrier Corals and Atolls. Atolls have formed into island and saltwater lakes. Coral reefs are abundant on Long Island, Muara Coral, Malalungun Coral and Large Coral.
