We can say that Hungary has an inland sea, Lake Balaton. It is located 100 kilometers west of Budapest and is the largest freshwater lake in Central Europe. It is 80 kilometers long and reaches a width of 14 kilometers. We can take a day trip to visit and explore this lake and some of the towns that surround it. There are different things that can be done, we will agree on how to visit that location and what to do. After a long day we can rest, free afternoon. After a productive day exploring Budapest and getting into the work groove, we’ll wind down in the evening with a relaxed pizza night and maybe we can play some games. We are going to enjoy another fantastic spa, the Gellert is a very exclusive spa with a lot of class. Its interiors are a real wonder. It stands out for its indoor pools in an environment with fantastic decoration. If you choose it, you will have an excellent experience. What stands out the most about this spa is the majestic structure of its interiors with statues, columns, mosaics, and stained glass that are perfectly preserved. This spa has a total of 10 therapeutic pools, an outdoor wave pool that is a hit in the summer months, another with bubbles, and a children's pool. Its main pool is spectacular. It is in a large room with Roman columns. After our relaxing time at the spa, we can head back to the apartment, order some food, and just chill out. Whether it's playing some games, watching a movie, or simply having some drinks and good conversation, it’ll be the perfect way to wind down and enjoy our last moments in Budapest together.
5
Budapest Parliament
Day 5-6
Wrap up work and head out for a scenic walk along the Danube Promenade. Enjoy the views of the Buda Castle, Chain Bridge, and Parliament Building as the city lights up in the evening. We could have dinner at a traditional Hungarian restaurant to savor local delicacies like goulash and chimney cake—perfect for getting a real taste of Budapest. Optional: After dinner, we could grab a drink at one of Budapest's famous ruin bars, like Szimpla Kert or any other cool spot that catches our eye.
6
Christmas market Budapest
Day 6-7
After wrapping up work, we'll head out to explore the magical Budapest Christmas Market. We'll soak in the festive atmosphere, sip on some hot mulled wine, and enjoy a few drinks as we wander through the beautifully lit stalls, taking in the sights, sounds, and scents of the holiday season. After that we can have some drinks and have dinner at home (take away) or go to some restaurant (to be decided and agreed among the group).
7
Ruin Bars Budapest
Day 7-8
We will do our own "pub crawl" to discover and explore the different Ruin bars of the city. We will visit the most popular ones and also try to find more local ones. The appeal of these bars lies in their DNA; they're underground, hard to find, unique yet insanely hip. Each of these bars is unique and is more than just a bar, as they have art galleries, restaurants, etc. We will discover them! You just have to know where to find them. There are many to choose from, and we will have many days to explore them. For example, the oldest of them all, Szimpla, has become almost as famous as Heroes' Square or the Castle. Another cool ons is Instant & Fogas, which, after taking over an entire apartment building, has become Budapest's largest ruin bar and Europe's largest party complex, with 7 different floors, 18 bars, and 2 gardens (yeah, it's big!). We can also visit Csendes Létterem Anker't ruin bar. There are many of them, we will review and decide which ones to visit!
8
Danube River
Day 8-9
We will enjoy a cruise on the Danube, we will try to coincide the cruise with the sunset (hopefully friday we can finish work early), to be able to enjoy this and see the city illuminated, which is something spectacular. One of the most popular activities in Budapest is taking a cruise on the Danube. It is one of the most important rivers in Europe and holds the gold medal for the river that crosses the most countries in the world (an impressive 10 countries). Well, actually this medal is shared on equal terms with the Nile, which also passes through 10 countries. In addition to its immensity, the ride on the Danube River in Budapest passes right in front of some of the most emblematic monuments of the city, such as the Budapest Parliament. Friday night we can go have dinner, some drinks and enjoys Budapest nightlife.
9
Fisherman's Bastion
Day 9-10
The Fisherman's Bastion is a lookout located on the Buda Hill, on the west bank of the Danube. From its top, we can contemplate Pest in all its splendor. It is a historic monument built at the turn of the century to commemorate the first thousand years of a united Hungary when plans were made to remodel the Buda Hill. From the Fisherman's Bastion, we get the best views of the Budapest Parliament. If we visit at sunset, besides getting the best photos, by spending some time in the surroundings we can take advantage of seeing Pest illuminated. From the Castle Hill, and particularly from the Fisherman's Bastion, the views will remain in our memory forever. Any time of day has its charm for the visit. If we access the Fisherman's Bastion at nightfall, we will contemplate the illuminated Parliament and Margarita Bridge. If we approach the balustrade of the Bastion in the afternoon, we can see how the sunset reflects on the facades of the opposite bank. And if we are the type who likes to get up early to discover the city before anyone else, contemplating the sunrise of Budapest rising beyond the immense plain of Pest will more than compensate for the early wake-up (that's what I've been told). We will walk 1hour enjoying the view, and we will to visit Margaret Island. In the heart of Budapest, in the middle of the Danube River, Margaret Island rises up. A green oasis in the chaos of the city that hides many corners that we are going to discover. The island can be walked from one end to the other in approximately 45 minutes, and in an hour and a half if you want to go around the island on its circular path. For a "small" area, some of the most interesting places in Budapest can be found here, such as some historic bars and restaurants, but also parks, trails, attractions... In the afternoon, we’ll head back to the apartment to rest up and get ready for our last night in Budapest. We'll enjoy a special farewell dinner together, reminiscing about the great times we’ve had. After dinner, we can head out for some drinks and see where the night takes us, making the most of our final evening in this beautiful city.
10
Széchenyi Thermal Bath
Day 10
Our visit to the Széchenyi Baths will be the grand finale of our Budapest adventure! Before we head home, we'll treat ourselves to some well-deserved relaxation. With 15 thermal pools, saunas, Turkish baths, and more, it’s the perfect way to unwind and recharge. Trust me, after soaking in those warm waters, you’ll head home feeling fresh, renewed, and ready to take on anything! I'm not lying or exaggerating at all if I tell you that surely after being in Budapest, one of the things that you will remember with the most intensity and affection will be the visit to the Széchenyi Baths. Is going to be our last night, so we will have a farewell dinner and maybe we can have our last drinks together!
11
Budapest
Day 10-11
Sunday will be our final day in Budapest, with some of us heading home while others might choose to extend their stay. Depending on departure times, we might share one last breakfast together. The day is free to spend as you wish, and I hope by now you've enjoyed a fantastic week, discovered this amazing city, met new people, and had plenty of fun along the way.
