Join me in a unique Backwards Thanksgiving to celebrate Thanksgiving...before the first meal in the new world was ever conceived and to some pure, historical routes. Let's trace the route taken to what they called back then - freedom. About me: My name is Jai, and I was born in the United States. To my knowledge, I am not related to any Puritans or Mayflower passengers, nor am I religious myself. But I love history and finding out where people came from, especially those who came to the US. Also, it is worth noting that you do not need to be from the US to join this trip. In fact, Thanksgiving is celebrated in a few other countries too. It is open to all history and nature lovers. And bring an extra stomach with you too because we will make the very first Backwards Thanksgiving meal together in our shared apartment or cottage. This was a special trip, as Jai took over for another tripleader, last minute. Considering that, the trip was a perfect mix between adventure and relaxation/meeting other people. Exactly what I needed. It was only the two of us during the trip, and I got plenty of opportunities to experience the island life as I wanted. Jai usually stayed with me to talk and to discover many things, but I did get my fair share of freedom to hop on a bike and explore to my heart's content. I thank her for all the precious memories and long talks in the evening about our other trips, and life in general. It really never got boring. Jai is a very interesting person with many things to share. I can recommend travelling with her. She can teach anyone a thing or two about living and travelling in special countries (Geogrgia, Serbia, Pakistan, ...)

What can one expect from a tripleader? I think that one can expect from the tripleader to book accommodations, to have some ideas about the places we will be visiting and to organize some activities. There was almost nothing of that during this trip as Jay relied entirely on my ideas and on my organization. So I almost became the actual tripleader (another reason for that is that Jay has a significant visual disability). Jays only organizational contribution was to book accomodations, where we shared rooms. So I got nowhere near the value of what I had paid. Then Jay simply quit the tour after four days for no real reason. I think that Jay should not be a tripleader. After this experience I cannot recommend her and I hope to resolve this issue soon.

Doncaster

Day 1-4

We will meet at our accomodation in Doncaster. We will begin the days having breakfast together before exploring the area. We have the option to take public transportation or even rent a car to explore other areas. (This transport not included in price).

Scrooby

Day 4

Scrooby is a small village that we will take a day trip to. But exploring nature will depend on weather. But we can visit churches that were once the center of the beginning of fanatical religion and the voyage of many to the new world. The founder of the Pilgrim movement, William Brewster, is also from this village.

Immingham

Day 4-7

It is here where we will have our BackwardsThanksgiving dinner. Feel free to bring something from your place of origin. We will also do our own Pilgrim Trail to trace famous path the pilgrims came from in this town before getting on the famous ship in 1620 to sell to America.
