Trip Itinerary

Narsarsuaq
Day 1-2
Day 1-2: Arrival in Greenland - Narsarsuaq - Narsaq Today, we arrive in the small village of Narsarsuaq, in South Greenland. It is the home of the Norse Vikings, who settled here hundreds of years ago in the unforgiving and rough climate. Winter in Greenland lasts into May, so just imagine how people managed to survive on water and land back in the days. We will be picked up at the airport and brought by boat to Narsaq, where we stay in a simple hostel overnight and use the rest of the day to relax and enjoy the views into the fjords. INCLUSIVE ✅ 1 night in a hostel without breakfast ✅ Boat transfer Narsarsuaq to Narsaq
2
Nuuk
Day 2-5
Day 2 - 5: Boat Narsaq - Sisimiut (with day stop in Nuuk) The next day we have time to hike and explore the nature here, which is totally different from what we will see later on on our journey. Depending on weather conditions, we can take a boat to one of the other villages or just explore Narsaq`s maritime flair. Our ship, which connects the villages and settlements on the route between south Greenland and Ilulissat to the north, leaves only in the late afternoon. Tourists as well as locals board the ship and because wifi is not being provided everywhere, this will be an amazing opportunity to marvel at the icebergs and melting pack ice on deck and meet locals. The ship has been constructed to sail in ice water and navigate the arctic. We spend the next three nights on board the ship, which makes a day-long stop in the capital city of Nuuk, where we can go on land and visit the museum or just explore the town. Which, btw, has a total population of just over 19.000 people. INCLUSIVE ✅ 3 nights on the boat in a shared bulk bed cabin with 3x breakfast, 2x lunch and 1x dinner on board ✅ Full day exploring the capital Nuuk

Sisimiut
Day 5-6
Day 5-7: Sisimiut In the evening of day 5 we reach the coastal town Sisimiut. It is beautifully located in the arctic circle on a highland plateau and is home to the Arctic Circle Race, which is held annually in March or April. If we are lucky, we will experience one of the biggest sport events in the country. We spend two nights in a cosy Bed & Breakfast. INCLUSIVE ✅ 2 nights in a B&B in Sisimiut with breakfast ✅ Walk Sisimiut at our own pace EXCLUDED ❌ Flight Sisimiut - Kangerlussuaq (~ 100-150€)

Kangerlussuaq
Day 6-9
Day 7-10: Kangerlussuaq On the morning of day 7 we take our flight to Kangerlussuaq, the closest settlement to the ice cap of Greenland. We shall reach Kangerlussuaq in the afternoon, and since it is a very short flight we also have time to relax and enjoy the views from our lodge, where we spend three nights under the pristine sky. I have planned three days in Kangerlussuaq for many reasons. First of all, it is one of the best places in West Greenland to enjoy winter sports and experience the northern lights (even in March/April). It used to be an American military base and is slowly converting into a gate for expeditions to the ice cap and adventurous tourists (like us). A big population of muskox lives here and chances are high that we will spot some during our hikes or excursions. On our first free day we will join a guided tour to Russell Glacier, one of the most astonishing glaciers in this area and one of the few that we can get really close to. Alternatively, if the group decides, we can go on a tour to the Ice Cap Point 660 instead. Of course you can do both tours, if you like to see more of Kangerlussuaq! You can book additional activities on site. Furthermore, Kangerlussuaq is a famous dog sledding spot! So instead of a hike into the icy nature on the second day, you can also go to see the huskies and take a sled ride. INCLUSIVE ✅ 3 nights in a lodge in Kangerlussuaq with breakfast ✅ Guided hike to Russell Glacier or Ice Cap Point 660 ✅ Watch wildlife in one of the most remote settlements in West Greenland EXCLUDED ❌ Flight Kangerlussuaq - Ilulissat (~ 150-200€)

Ilulissat
Day 9-12
Day 10-12: Ilulissat Today we depart from Kangerlussuaq to Ilulissat and shall reach Ilulissat around early morning/noon. The town Ilulissat is beautifully located right by the ice fjord and we will see passing icebergs from the shores with bare eyes! The next days are free to enjoy wintery excursions, sporty activities and lengthy hikes. Those who wish can participate in guided cross-country skiing, snowmobile rides, snow shoeing and dog sledding activities, ice fishing and even ice diving (additional fees apply on site). Due to logistical planning, we will spend the first night in the town in a centrally located lodge where breakfast is included. The Sermermiut area and the ice fjords are a recognised UNESCO-site and also accessible for hikes in March/April. Therefore, I recommend taking one day to explore the Sermermiut Valley. Our last night is a bit of the highlight of the tour. And by this I mean: we sleep in a a real igloo. Imagine sleeping in the middle of the sparkling Greenland winter, where the igloos are built from snow, as inuit have practised through thousands of years. Btw, the word Igloo comes from the Greenlandic word “Illu'' that means house. Out here in the wilderness we have no light pollution, and, therefore, this is where we have another chance to see the most beautiful northern light and the most beautiful night sky! The next morning, we will be brought back to Ilulissat airport with snowmobiles and end our journey of Greenland. I am sure 12 days will pass in no time and it will already be time to say farewell to our newly found travel buddies. I really hope to meet you adventurous people very soon and please feel welcome to join👋🙂! INCLUSIVE ✅ 1 night in a lodge in Ilulissat with breakfast ✅ 1 night in a traditional igloo with full board (1 igloo per 2 pax, usually only with a double bed. But since everyone gets their own sleeping bags and equipment, it should be fun for one night to sleep like an Inuit family back in the days)
