Originally named Pulau Batu Jubin for its granite quarries that once supplied building materials for iconic structures like the Istana (presidential office) and the Singapore-Johore Causeway, it is just a short 15-minute boat ride from the jetty. This serene island oasis is a beloved destination for both nature enthusiasts and those seeking a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. We wil take a bus or metro line to the jetty and then set over to the island by boat. The island is best explored by bicycles, so that is what we do! It is a unique natural area, where six major ecosystems – sandy beach, rocky beach, seagrass lagoon, coral rubble, mangroves and coastal forest - meet! After a lunch break we go to explore the rural village and the rubber and coconut plantations. If we have time and weather allows, we can relax on one of the white sandy beaches on the island before setting back to Singapore City.
