Muscat

Day 1-3
Day 1: Arrival On the first day everybody will arrive in Muscat over the course of the day. Check-in to the hotel is possible from 3pm onwards. Day 2: Explore the old town Now that everybody has arrived we will rent a 4WD car and explore the old town of Muscat. That includes places like the souq (the old market of Muscat), the fortress which was originally built by the Portuguese in the 16th century and the Al Alam Palace. Day 3: Bimmah Sinkhole and Wadi Shab canyoning Today we are driving south towards the coastal city Sur. On our way we will visit the Bimmah Sinkhole. A 40m large crater which is filled with crystal clear water. From the sinkhole we are going to continue to Wadi Shab. With its turquoise waters, giant rock formations and beautiful vegetation, Wadi Shab is sure worth exploring. The first part can be explored by foot and those who want to go deeper into the Wadi can do so by swimming.
2

Sur

Day 3-4
Day 3: Sur In the evening we are going to arrive in Sur, a costal town with rich history. In the evening we will explore the town and the old quarter. Day 4: Wadi Bani Khalid From Sur we are driving towards the large desert area of Oman, the Wahiba Sands. On the way we are going to visit Wadi Bani Khalid, another beautiful Wadi with large pools of emerald green water surrounded by tall palm trees
3

Wahiba Sands

Day 4-5
Day 4: Arrival in our desert camp After the Wadi we are continuing to our next highlight of the trip. The Wahiba Sands is a large desert that spans over 12.500 kmΒ². Here we will spend the night in a desert camp including a traditional dinner. For those who want to do some activities there are following possibilities that can be arranged on request: - Camel riding - Quad biking - Dune bashing - Sand boarding

Nizwa

Day 5-7
Day 5: The mountains of Oman Today we continue our journey into the mountain region of Oman with heights of up to 3000m. The next 2 nights we are spending in Nizwa, the former capital of Oman in the 6th and 7th century. A city full of history and culture. We are going to visit the souq of Nizwa as well as the fortress which was constructed in the 17th century. Day 6: Jebel shams - the grand canyon of Oman Jebel shams is located about a 2 hours drive from Nizwa. Here we are going to hike the "balcony walk" which takes about 3-4 hours. The scenery on this walk is beautiful with great views of the Wadi Nakhr, the grand canyon of Oman. Day 7: Jebel Akhdar Jebel Akhdar is located not too far away from Nizwa. It is characterized by terraced crops and vegetation in a rather hostile environment. This stage is a great sight for nature and hiking enthusiasts as we walk through 3 villages with some spectacular views. The hike takes about 1 to 2 hours. In the evening we are driving back to Muscat to discover more of the city and visit another highlight of Oman, the Ad-Dimaniyat islands.
5

Muscat

Day 7-10
Day 7: Arrival in Muscat in the evening Day 8: Explore more of Muscat The Muscat Opera House is one of Oman's architectural highlights with its mix of traditional and modern architecture. Another must see in Muscat is the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. One of the largest mosques in the world that is open for non-muslims to visit. Day 9: Snorkeling trip to Ad-Dimaniyat islands Most people would never guess that nine tropical islands with pristine turquoise water and tons of sea life exist just 40 minutes by boat from Muscat. That is where we are going today. It is a great snorkeling hotspot and hopefully we will see lots of sea life. Day 10: Departure Today we are going to depart from Oman back to our hometown with hopefully lots of great memories :)
