In this northern Spain road trip, we will be searching for fun adventures and the freshest local ingredients around the best food region in Spain! We will start in Valencia, where we have the opportunity to take a boat ride within the stunning Albufera Lake and cook our own paella at a local garden to start off. Then we will be heading to Logroño (La Rioja), one of the best wine regions in the world, to have a taste and learn about their wines at a celebrated and beautiful Winery. To continue our adventure we will be heading north to the world-famous city of San Sebastian to complete the best Pinchos crawl available and chill at the monumental beach of Playa de la Concha. Then, we will be going up west to hike a small eastern region of Los Picos de Europa to get to the cute and picturesque town of Potes and find the best fresh local cheese, veggies, and cider at the best farmers market in Spain! And to finish up our experience we will be driving down to the amazing Madrid, where we are going to end up our trip with a great Spanish feast!

ABOUT ME! But before digging into the details of the itinerary I will introduce myself. I'm Fernando, a Spaniard husband, and dad who loves adventures and loves responsible and single-source food! I started my journey by taking a one-way trip to China where I decided to live for a while, then I worked in a wine farm and Cellar in South Africa, learned some more about wines in California, and then I discovered Specialty coffee while I was living in Australia. Several years after, I decided to open a coffee shop in Madrid, and started to source my own coffee from Central America where I traveled often and we finish up owning four shops and a roastery there. I had traveled to more than 27 countries and live in many others. As a trip leader on this tour, I will be guiding you to the best spots as confident locals will do, taking care of your needs and telling you stories about the country and the Spanish way of life. There is no better way to learn about a country and its people than through its food! so let's dig in together on this amazing food trip!

DETAILS ABOUT THE ACCOMMODATION: During our food adventure, we will be traveling by car ( a large van) and staying in a central location shared apartment (aka Airbnbs) combined with Hostels in dorms (I will be aiming to share only with our team members). Bathrooms will be shared, as well as common spaces. Keep me posted in the Q&A section if you have any questions!

Valencia

Tag 1-2

After our welcome meeting in Valencia, we will head to the National Park of Albufera to take a boat ride. At the same time, we check up on the local landscapes, collect some rice in the rice fields, learn to cook a typical paella with fire, and have a welcome outdoor feast within private premises. After lunch, we go to the city center for a local tour, and we will finish our day with a Vermut in hand.

Logroño

Tag 2-3

Next, we will be heading to one of the best wine regions in the world: La Rioja. Where we will be going to one of the best Bodegas (Wine farms) in the county to learn about their wines and taste them paired with mature cheese and local specialties. Afterward, we will be going to the city center to taste some of the best tapas in the region.

Donostia-San Sebastian

Tag 3-5

Known for its Micheline stars and best food experiences in the world. During our first night in the city, we will try the best Pinxos in the country. We will explore the best bars in town and learn about this city's unique cuisine style. After our first night, we will be heading to the beach to enjoy a chill and very well-deserved rest with a view while our bellies and bodies rejuvenate for what comes next.

Santander

Tag 5-7

In Santander, after a good start with a freshly roasted coffee, we will be heading to the mountain early in the morning to hike (or just walk around) a region of the Picos the Europa, a natural wonder to finish off in Potes, where we will be experiencing the best farmers market in the country where we can gather local cheese, veggies, chorizos, jamón and a lot of local cider. Then we will head up to Comillas, a local wonder place to have a swim and rest before continue our journey.

Madrid

Tag 7-8

No city will match the end of a journey like the Capital of Spain. In Madrid we will be going to the best local places around, walk around the enchanting streets of the city center, taste a vermut and end up our trip in a local airbnb on La Sierra de Madrid where we are going to cook our goodbye feast ourselves with fun tunes, good food and a great lot of memories to take with us back home.
