Kasteel ten Berghe, Bruges, Belgium
Only a few kilometers from the city center of Bruges, surrounded by gardens and canals, you will find this beautiful fairy-tale castle. The small turrets, the windows, and the red brick make the castle look romantic and fairytale-like. Rooms here cost about 185€ a night for 2 people and the hotel has been praised several times for its excellent breakfast. Kronovalls Vinslott, Tomelilla, Sweden
About 65 km east of the Swedish city of Malmö, you will find the small town of Tomelilla. The castle, which you will find in the middle of a beautiful garden, is, as the name suggests, a wine castle and, since its construction in the 18th century, in possession of a wine-maker family. Rooms in this magnificent castle can be had for as little as 160€ a night. The highlights of the hotel are the more than 20,000 bottles of wine and the fresh stone oven pizza in the in-house restaurant.
Glenapp Castle, Ayrshire, Scotland
This medieval castle is located in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Galloway, and its highlight is the 3-bedroom penthouse with sauna, private tower with lake views, and private butler and chef. The castle’s decor is Scottish country style but still feels very opulent and regal. A smaller room here costs €460; the hotel announces the prices for the penthouse on request.
Ashford Castle, County Mayo, Ireland
This 5-star hotel celebrated its 80th birthday as a hotel and its 791st birthday in 2019. The castle garden is perfect for a picnic with Irish cheese or to practice falconry. Sleeping Beauty Castle Sababurg, Hofgeismar, Germany
The 650-year-old castle served as inspiration for the fairy tale Sleeping Beauty by the Brothers Grimm. The castle is located in the middle of the forest and on the famous Fairy Tale Road.
