Travel Destinations
You are ready for the adventure CoWorking Trip but are still unsure where to go? No problem! We’ve put together some highlights for 2022 to make your decision a little easier with so many options to choose from.
We’re sure there’s something for everyone. But see for yourself:
1. Playa del Carmen, Mexico
Playa del Carmen, a Caribbean dream that will make you forget the cold winter at home very quickly.
The place is a paradise for people, who want to escape the winter and work on the go with cool TripMates. The conditions for an unforgettable CoWorking trip are perfect: the internet connection is stable and fast, and there are numerous cozy restaurants and cafes to work from. The general mood in the city is relaxed and the already existing CoWorking community is great.
After work, there is of course enough time to explore the area. Feel like going scuba diving? In one of the numerous cenotes, you can swim as well as go diving.

After that, you can look forward to relaxing hours on the beach with your travel buddies. White sand between your toes, a cocktail in one hand, a delicious taco in the other, and enjoying the breathtaking sunset. And you’ll already have energy for the next day.
Do you want to learn more about ancient Mayan culture? Then we recommend a visit to the Chichén-Itzá ruins and buildings of the Mayan culture and a visit to the Frida Kahlo Museum.
Fun Fact: There are 69 languages spoken in Mexico: Spanish and 68 indigenous languages.

2. Medellin, Colombia
Medellin is only the second-largest city in Colombia, but in terms of quality of life, it is ahead of the national capital Bogotá.
The weather is pleasant all year round, which makes the city perfect for any outdoor activities, such as paragliding. The nightlife in Medellin also deserves a mention. In general, the city is perfect for working productively in the home office during the day and enjoying the Colombian lifestyle in the evening.
This livable and colorful city also impresses with its culture, which you can best get to know by talking to the warm-hearted locals or by visiting Comuna 13. Comuna 13 was once the most dangerous neighborhood in the city. Today, the place is known for its street art and the many street artists.
Fun Fact: The escalator in that neighborhood is the longest in the world. It was built in 2011 and is located in the open air. It connects Comuna 13 with the city center, making it easier to live together.
If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the vibrant city for a day, a visit to Guatapé is a good idea. The gigantic rock Piedra del Peñol rises from a reservoir in the region and from the top, you will have a fantastic view.
If you don’t want to venture in to Colombia alone, plan your own trip and share the experience with your travel partners.

3. Canary Islands, Spain
The seven Canary Islands convince with year-round pleasant weather, breathtaking nature, and perfect conditions for hiking, surfing, and remote working.
They are also called the “islands of eternal spring“, which can definitely be confirmed after a look at the weather forecast. Even in winter, the temperature averages 20 degrees Celsius, which on the one hand creates pleasant conditions for working and on the other hand allows for a variety of leisure activities.
But how to decide between the seven great and yet so different islands? We present three of the islands to help you decide.
Tenerife
If you feel like doing some sports on your CoWorking trip, then you’ve come to the right place. The largest of the Canary Islands is perfect for hiking. You can climb the highest mountain of the island, the Pico del Teide, or explore the Masca Gorge. From the cliffs, you can even watch whales and dolphins.
After work is done, you should not miss one or another party on the weekend. In Santa Cruz, you will have the opportunity to dive into the Spanish nightlife. Speaking of parties: Santa Cruz is home to the second-largest carnival in the world. It is only topped by the carnival in Rio de Janeiro.
All in all, Santa Cruz is the most popular place on the island among digital nomads. It is not too touristy, there are many co-working spaces and good cafes.
Even those who like to go to the beach don’t miss out there. Las Teresitas beach is nearby and easy to reach by bus, cab, or rental car. It is supposed to be the most beautiful beach on the island because of its golden sand.
Fun Fact: The sky over Tenerife is one of the best spots for stargazing.

Fuerteventura
The second-largest of the Canary Islands is known for white beaches reminiscent of the Caribbean.
Especially popular among digital nomads is the town of Corralejo. Besides beautiful cafes, restaurants, and great beaches, you should also enjoy the vibrant nightlife. In general, there is a relaxed atmosphere in the city, as the place is not too touristy in winter, as the bigger cities in the Canary Islands.
In winter, it is definitely warm enough to fill up on vitamin D, which is also due to the fact that the island is only 100 km away from the African continent.
As a beach and action lover, you should definitely visit the sand dunes of Corralejo. All kinds of water sports like surfing, jet skiing, and kite surfing are possible on the island. In addition, a day trip to the island of Lobos is worthwhile to enjoy the crystal clear water there.
Fun Fact: The goat is the mascot of the island. The island has about 120,000 inhabitants and about 50,000 to 60,000 goats.
Lanzarote
Lanzarote is a somewhat different island. Due to its crater landscape, it has a charm all of its own. It almost feels like being in another world, or on another planet.
Fun Fact: Due to the Mars-like nature of the volcanic island, astronauts from the European Space Agency (ESA) are trained on Lanzarote for their expeditions.
The weather is unbeatable with an average of 21 degrees Celsius in winter. The best place to spend the winter is Playa Blanca, as it is less windy than other places on the island.
Lanzarote is one of the most exciting islands because there is so much to discover.
The Timanfaya National Park, for example, contributes significantly to the magic of this island. Here you can dive into a unique volcanic world or dare a ride on dromedaries. Another highlight is the town of Haria, which is located in the Valley of a Thousand Palms.
After all the sightseeing you deserve a relaxing afternoon at one of the pitch-black volcanic beaches.
Did you choose one of the islands? Then let’s go! Luckily, it won’t be long until the next CoWorking Trip starts.

4. Portugal
The next time you sit in front of your computer waiting for a file to finally download, you’ll wish you were in Portugal. But Internet speed is just one point in favor of a co-working trip to the southern European country. Many others follow:
Madeira
Like the Canary Islands, Madeira is considered the “Island of Spring.” The place is the hiker’s paradise and convinces with an average temperature of 20 degrees Celsius in winter.
But the island also scores with its picturesque and diverse nature, combining steep mountains, green forests, gigantic cliffs, and the sea.
If you still have enough energy after work, you can go surfing or go on one of the unique hikes. However, you should save the climb to the highest mountain on the island, Pico Ruivo, until the weekend.
If you are looking for the best viewpoints at every new place, the skywalk at the cliff of Cabo Girão is definitely something for you. But be careful if you’re afraid of heights: only a transparent glass plate separates you from the 580-meter-deep abyss.
Fun Fact: The New Year’s Eve fireworks on Madeira were named the largest fireworks display in the world in the Guinness Book of Records. Maybe this is an inspiration for your New Year’s Eve?
Algarve
Within the Algarve, very close to Sagres, is the westernmost point of the European mainland. There, beyond the steep cliffs, the vast ocean begins. Adrenaline junkies are at the right place here. Because at Praia do Tonel beach, in addition to a unique view, there are huge waves just waiting to be ridden by advanced surfers.
CoWorking in the Algarve is perfect at the beginning of the year. Spring doesn’t take long to arrive there and so the almond blossom already starts between January and February. Let yourself be enchanted by the pleasant scent and the fairytale-like sight of the snow-white and delicate pink blossoms on your hikes.
What also speaks for a trip to the Algarve is that it’s still considered an insider tip among digital nomads and the prices are accordingly low. You can often get a coffee here for as little as 50 to 70 cents.
Fun Fact: The coast of the Algarve is over 155 kilometers long.

Lisbon
Do you fancy CoWorking in one of Europe’s oldest cities, surrounded by gorgeous beaches and national parks? Then let’s go to Lisbon! The city is considered an affordable option among European capitals. In the city’s small bars, the tascas, you can get traditional dishes for a small price.
Lisbon also boasts a high quality of life and an innovative environment, which makes it a one-stop destination for digital nomads. The atmosphere there is very relaxed, which has also contributed to the fact that a great co-working community has already formed in recent years, which you can join as well.
After work, you can go on a sightseeing tour around the city. You can admire the Torre de Belém, one of Lisbon’s most famous landmarks. You can experience a different kind of city stroll at the LX Factory. This old factory site is a place for all the creative people who run studios, stores, cafes, and restaurants there.
To completely switch off and escape the hustle and bustle of the city, we recommend a trip to the coast.
Fun Fact: The recipe for the country’s culinary specialty, Pastéis de Nata, is one of the country’s best-kept secrets. Only five people know the original recipe.

5. Bali, Indonesia
Impressive temples, breathtaking sunsets, white sandy beaches, crystal clear water, and inspiring yoga classes. There is something for everyone in Bali. In addition, the island is perfect for a CoWorking trip, as the infrastructure is now really great due to the popularity of the place.
Ubud
It all started in Ubud in 2013 with the opening of the co-working space Hubud. Since then, this breathtakingly beautiful place surrounded by rice fields has attracted people from all over the world. And not without reason: in Ubud, you can expect tropical weather, beautiful landscapes, and a high standard of living at a low cost.
In the art and culture capital of Bali, there are countless possibilities to spend your free time besides work. For example, you can take part in a cooking class together with your travel partners. You will learn a lot about Balinese cuisine, lifestyle, and culture for sure.
If you prefer to eat out, you have to visit one of the numerous warungs there. These are small restaurants, which are usually run by Balinese and offer incredibly delicious traditional dishes.
After the meal, you will be ready for a visit to the Tegalalang rice terraces, which are one of the most popular places on the island. Or are you in the mood for a spiritual and magical yoga experience? You will definitely get your money’s worth in Ubud.
Canggu
Although Ubud was the starting point for the remote work movement, Canggu has become more and more established in recent years and is one of the best destinations for 2022. This is partly due to the location of the place. Canggu is not located inland like Ubud, but on the coast, which also makes the place a paradise for surfers.
The dream beaches promise not only action and adventure, but also relaxation. For the perfect start to the day, you can enjoy the first rays of sunshine in the morning on the beach or even take part in a yoga session to start your working day full of energy and positivity.
Just like Ubud, Canggu is a paradise for foodies. Here you can taste all the different kinds of food for weeks and you won’t get bored of it!
Whether in restaurants or warungs, there is something for every taste. From traditional Balinese dishes to fusion cuisine and Mexican or Italian delicacies. You won’t end up in the Food Coma just once.
Still can’t decide between the two places? Then get inspired by the upcoming trips of our TripLeaders.
