Our top 6 destinations for the coming Easter holidays

How will you spend your next spring? Will you spend Easter 2021 at home or do you want to get away from all the hustle and bustle and go traveling? We have prepared something for you! Today we will show you our travel tips for Easter, which include the best destinations in April. Get ready for a warm spring!

Mallorca

Mallorca is so much more than just the partying and drinking in El Arenal. In recent years, the Mallorcan government has done a lot to improve the image of the rest of the island so that you can get to know the culture and nature. There is a lot to discover in Mallorca and if you travel around the island at the beginning of the high season, it is not nearly as crowded as in July and August. It is also not as hot! So you can visit the beautiful towns all over the island without melting away. The best way to do this is to rent a car with your Mallorca travel partners, but you can also use the bus network that serves the whole island.

So what can you experience? Of course, you should visit the capital of the island, Palma de Mallorca! Not only the cathedral is impressive, but also the many small streets in the old town are beautiful. Here you can sit in authentic cafés or get a coffee to go and stroll through the city. If you drive to the north of the island, the landscape changes all of a sudden. The Tramuntana Mountains stretch from the southwest to the northernmost point of the island and that is where you should go. This point is called Cap de Formentor and can only be reached by a single-lane winding mountain road. The mountains are really impressive because although there might have been sunshine in Palma, it can be really cloudy and mystical here.

At the foot of the mountain is the town of Pollença, which is also wonderful for a small lunch. As you can see, Mallorca is one of the top destinations in April and offers a lot of travel tips for Easter 2021.

Easter 2021: Tenerife

We have already told you a lot about Tenerife in other blog articles because this island is simply breathtaking. If you know it only from all-inclusive vacations with your family, you should revise your image of the island as soon as possible. Tenerife belongs to the Canary Islands, which are located in the Atlantic Ocean next to Africa. Because of this location, Tenerife has similar temperatures all year round, so it almost doesn’t matter when you travel there. This is why Tenerife is also on our list of travel tips for Easter 2021.

Your adventure in Tenerife is all about nature. Tenerife has a unique landscape because in the south of the island you will find almost only desert and desert-like regions, while the north is really green and almost jungle-like. Most of the tourists and hotels are located in the south, so you should definitely stay in the north. In the north is the capital of the island, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Here you will find many Digital Nomads who are coworking in Tenerife. You can read more about this in our article about the coworking paradise of the Canary Islands. If you prefer to live in a small town, check out Puerto de la Cruz. Here you will find impressive vacation homes for your travel buddies and you, which are located directly by the sea. Some even have private beach access!

Almost the whole island is a nature reserve surrounding the huge volcano in the center of the island. The volcano Teide is popular with hikers, so you should definitely plan a tour of this area. The numerous volcanic sand beaches on the island are also worth an experience!

Crete

On Crete, you can experience the Greek Spring. The island is very popular with travelers, especially in the summer, so in April you may still have the chance to be alone in some places or just be with locals. On Crete, you should also rent a car and explore the island with your road trip partner.

You can start your exploration tour in the capital of the island, Heraklion. There you will find e.g. the Archaeological Museum, which presents the Cretan history. There you will also find the famous palace of Knossos and beautiful beaches. Speaking of beaches: If you are experiencing a particularly warm day, make sure you spend a day on the beach of Elafonisi. This peninsula is located in the southwest of Crete and is really unique because the sand on the spot is partly pink!

In the west of the island is also the huge nature reserve around the Lefka Ori, the white mountains. Here you will find bright mountain formations through which you can hike, climb, but also drive. Many travelers call this region the best hiking region in the world, especially the deep gorges are impressive. Perfect for Easter 2021!

Easter 2021: Cape Verde

The Cape Verde Islands are also counted among the Macaronesian Islands, but what does that mean? The word “Macaronesian” means blessed or happy in German and that’s exactly what the Cape Verde Islands are! On the Cape Verde Islands, which by the way belong to Africa, you will find African-Portuguese culture on wide sandy beaches. Between October and July, it gets very windy on the islands, but the warm temperatures make the wind very pleasant. As on Tenerife, you will find all kinds of vegetation, from desert to jungle – even everything on one island. There are a total of 9 inhabited islands to which you can travel to.

On the island of Sal, you will find a vast desert region, with rugged coasts, but also with white beaches. Here you can go surfing as well as swimming in hidden lagoons. On the island of Fogo, you can once again enjoy a landscape shaped by a volcano. The volcanic mountain Pico de Fogo can of course be reached on a hike, but it can take up to 6 hours from the starting point in Chã das Caldeiras because you have to overcome a height difference of 1000 meters. If this is too much for you, you can also enjoy and explore the island with its small villages and the beautiful volcanic landscape. On the Capeverdean islands, nature lovers will get their money’s worth.

The island of São Nicolau invites you to discover its unspoiled nature. Rugged mountains and deep valleys with small villages await you here, but the access to the beaches is rather difficult. Therefore you should connect São Nicolau with the largest island of the archipelago, Santiago. Here you will find arid deserts, fertile fields, fine sand beaches and colorful nature. The Cape Verde Islands are definitely one of our top travel tips for Easter 2021.

Barcelona

Now we want to show you how you can spend Easter 2021 on a short trip over the holidays. And of course, we will be heading south to one of the most popular cities in Europe – Barcelona.

Of course, there is a lot to discover in this city of millions, but if you are only here for a few days, you should have seen the most important spots. Among them is of course the Sagrada Família, the famous church, which was built by the artist Gaudí. The next sight on your list is also made by Gaudí, this is the Park Güell. This green area is home to colorful houses with elaborately designed mosaics. From here you can have a wonderful view over parts of the city. But one of the best views you will have from Montjuïc, a mountain in the middle of the city. Here you can take a cable car to the top and on sunny days you can see the whole city and the port.

Now we come to secret travel tips for Easter in Barcelona. This includes the Casa Vicens. This conspicuously designed house is also located in the center of the city and has not been accessible from the inside for long, so many travelers only know the house from the outside. The house is so special because it is decorated from the outside with thousands of mosaic stones! One place that almost no tourists have on their list is the so-called eyesore. The Forat de la Vergonya is a small city garden where today vegetables are planted and children can play. But this garden was created by a rebellion against real estate sharks by the residents. They did not want to give up their houses and planted the garden instead. You should definitely visit this place with your Barcelona travel buddies.

Easter 2021: Dubai

Dubai is also on the list of travel tips for Easter 2021. You should have seen this city at least once in your life. The city as it is today was founded in 1833 by Sheikh Maktoum Bin Buti Al Bu Falasah at Dubai Creek. In fact, the Al Maktoum dynasty is still going strong today! From Dubai Creek, it then expanded and in the 20th century became what we can see today.

On your visit with your Dubai travel partners, you should definitely connect old and new. If you want to start with “old”, go to the numerous souks in old Dubai. The Deira Gold Souk is very interesting for strolling around, but very few of us can afford anything there. If you are looking for souvenirs, the best thing to do is to go to the Spice Souk, which is very close by. Here you can haggle over the most beautiful spices and take the taste of the Orient home with you. Also in old Dubai, you will find al-Bastakiyya, a listed district. Here you can experience the rich history of the state and admire the architecture.

To see the whole city you have to book a trip to the top of the world-famous Burj Khalifa! You can do this at home by choosing a date and time for your group so you don’t have to wait in line. But be careful: the viewing platform is not for the faint-hearted. The highest viewing platform is 555 meters above the ground, so you can feel the wind in the building up there. Of course, there are a lot of new, futuristic and innovative buildings and attractions in Dubai that you should all visit. Therefore Dubai is also one of our travel tips for Easter 2021 and if you want to go on a small expedition, you can often book private tours on-site, e.g. to Oman.
