1. Koh Phangan, Thailand
Nestled on the southeast coast of Thailand, Koh Phangan beckons travelers with its crystal-clear turquoise sea and sparkling beaches. The Thai island makes you dream of a lovely tropical vacation. However, it is the venue for the country’s hottest event, which is the Fullmoon Party. “Nowadays, the Fullmoon Party attracts thousands of guests every month to drink cocktails from beach buckets in colorful neon shirts and dance in the sand to electronic music,” says TripLeader Timo, a dedicated traveler who spends his time around Southeast Asia.
Aside from the party, Timo noted that Koh Phangan has more to offer. You can ride a scooter around the island to find secluded waterfalls, including Phaeng No Waterfall and Than Sadet Waterfall. Koh Phangan also keeps beautiful coral reefs and is great for snorkeling.
Travel Tip: Skip the party crowd by visiting Bottle Beach or Haad Yuan Beach, two serene and less-touristy spots.
2. Bali, Indonesia
Summer in the Northern Hemisphere equals summer in Bali. It is when you can get blue, cloudless sky and hot weather. On the other hand, summer brings large crowds as it is also the school break season in Indonesia. Prices for accommodation and flights might be high, but pearly beaches and awesome surf sessions are ensured for you.
Every time I visit Bali in summer, my go-to destinations include Uluwatu and Nusa Dua. These two destinations are fringed with dramatic cliffs, breathtaking beaches, and mesmerizing ocean views. Beaches like Melasti and Ungasan are well-loved by Indonesian tourists, but for more private and secluded experiences you can head to Nyang Nyang and Gunung Payung Beach.
Travel Tip: You might want to expect showers if you visit at the end of July. There could be a flow of winter wind from Australia which causes heavy rain.
3. Labuan Bajo, Indonesia
Stray away from Bali’s overwhelming crowds and choose this paradise instead. Labuan Bajo is a charming fishing town in Flores, Indonesia that serves as the gateway to Komodo National Park. Travelers usually book a live-onboard package to roam around the breathtaking archipelago. It includes visiting Rinca Island where the Komodo dragons live. Moreover, the Komodo National Park archipelago features some of the most spectacular snorkeling and diving spots in the world.

Often referred to as “Little England,” this colonial-era town features charming British-style bungalows, a picturesque lake, and lush gardens.
