Stunning beaches and buzzing city life – CoWorking in Crete
Imagine if you are able to experience the view of stunning beaches, a buzzing city life and getting a glimpse of the history. That’s what Crete is all about! Crete is the largest island in Greece and it’s filled with ancient ruins, mouthwatering Greek food, beautiful scenery and breathtaking beaches. This is why Crete in Greece is my pick for a perfect CoWorking trip. You can work during the day and you will always have so many things to do after work and during the weekends. Wouldn’t it be great to end your busy day exploring and experiencing Crete?
The best places for CoWorking in Crete are:
-
Heraklion: Otherwise known as Iraklio, is the capital of the Greek island of Crete. This is definitely not an offbeat island but for all of you out there who love the hustle and bustle, then this 5th largest city in Greece should be your choice.
- Chania: This is a city that is rich in culture and tradition. It’s medieval and traditional architecture will take you back in time. Chania has a huge CoWorking community so there are a lot of options to choose from when it comes to CoWorking spaces and villas. An experience in Chania will definitely be worth it because there are a lot of secret villages, you can drive around exploring museums and castles, and trek the many paths along the forests.

CoWorking in Crete
Life in Crete for a digital nomad will typically be around 300€ for living expenses depending on your place of stay. But most importantly, because of the rise in the digital nomad lifestyle in Greece, the CoWorking culture, infrastructure and other technicalities like the internet connection is well improved. More packing tips for your next CoWorking trip can be found here.

What to experience in Crete?
Greek food:
I am an absolute foodie! So first and most importantly please hog on some yummy and delicious Greek food. My tip would be to try out fresh Cretan cheese, Malaka or Tiromalama.
Architecture: Here are my top recommendations
-
- The Holy Trinity Monastery
- Knossos Palace
- The Fortress of Koules
- Sacred Monastery of Arkadi
Knossos Palace
Trek the breathtaking Samaria Gorge:
This is one of the most beautiful treks that you can take because it’s 15 kilometers taking you through abandoned villages and narrow pathways. This is one of Crete’s famous national parks.
Visit Spinalonga island:
The tiny island of Spinalonga is located in the northeastern coast of Crete which can be easily reached by boat. It is a popular destination due to the ruins of venetian castle.
Beaches: Like I mentioned before, Crete has amazing beaches. So my top picks are:
- Elafonisi: is one of the least crowded beaches and is located in the southwest corner.
- Seitan Limania Beach is a little crowded and my tip would be to visit the beach early in the morning during the week. What better way to start as well?
