Best time to visit Malaysia:

Malaysia, known for its tropical climate, has a humid climate throughout the year. The best time to visit Malaysia is January to March because the monsoon season begins in April. You can also visit around the month of November, as the monsoon season ends in October. It’s always best to avoid the monsoon season for a much relaxing trip.

Things to remember on your trip to Malaysia:

  • Currency: The currency of Malaysia is the Malaysian Ringgit [RM].
  • Buses are the best option for transportation in and about the country.
  • Since Malaysia experiences a tropical climate most of the time, make sure to take light, cotton summer clothes. Plus, avoid wearing black clothing, because it will absorb the heat.
  • Plan out your budget and book your hotels and transportation in advance.

Day 1

Begin your trip in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia as most of the flights reach and take off from here. It is considered to be the thriving spot for restaurants, street food, and of course, bars. Kuala Lumpur is a city with a mix of modernity and culture. Visit the KLCC park and the most iconic Petronas tower, the tallest Twin Towers in the world. Visit the towers preferably in the night as it’s a spectacular view to see it illuminated. 

Day 2

On your second day, you can visit the Batu caves which are not far from the Kuala Lumpur central station. It is one of the most significant places of worship by Hindus and visited by many pilgrims from all around the world

You should definitely stop by Jalan Alor. This street is lined with a number of street stalls serving some of the typical Malay street style cuisines. You can also stop by Changkat. It is lined with a number of cocktail bars and pubs.

Malaysia also is known for its shopping culture so if you still have time while you’re in the city, go shopping. Bukit Bintang is one of the famous shopping spots in the city. It’s also one of the busiest places as it’s lined with a number of malls and stores from which you can shop to your heart’s content. 

George Town

Day 3 – 4

The second-largest city in Malaysia, George Town, is known for its diverse culture. It is home to a variety of places of worship, beautiful Chinese-style houses, and some excellent street art. Located on Penang island, explore the wilderness of Penang Hill and take a stroll through Penang Botanic Gardens.

Visit the Kek Lok Si temple, a beautiful work of architecture and the largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia. You can reach it by public bus.

Langkawi Island

Day 5 – 6

Home to a number of pristine beaches, Langkawi Island is known for its stunning landscape and calm shores. If you’re looking for some fun activities, you can go parasailing and jet-skiing. You can also go for a jungle safari or trekking

You also have a number of waterfalls and tropical rainforests which is always a delight to explore. Make sure you rent a bike for traveling around the islands. It saves a lot of time, money and you are able to have a more comfortable time at the Langkawi islands.

Day 7 – 8

Malaysia is known for its hot and humid weather, Cameron Highlands is the one place in the country known for its cool weather. Considered to be the agricultural area of the country, these extensive highlands are spread across a wide area. These hill stations have a number of tea plantations and strawberry farms and a lot of other fruit cultivations. It’s a spectacular view with all its various cultivations spread across. Public transport is definitely the best way to get to the Cameron Highlands.

Day 9 – 10

Spend the two days of your trip to Malaysia in Taman Negara. It has some of the most majestic and oldest rainforests in the world. Some rainforests are said to be more than 100 million years old. You can get an up-close look at wildlife and go for a canopy walk

Day 11 – 12

Perhentian Islands is a set of two small islands, Besar and Kecil, on the east coast of Malaysia. It’s one of the pristine islands with an amazing landscape and filled with a lot of fun activities, such as diving and snorkeling. The islands have completely different vibes, so you should visit both. They are the perfect spots to relax and sink in the ambiance of the environment.

Day 12 – 14

Malacca is another gorgeous city known for its British and Portuguese architecture. It also is quite famous for creative graffiti, which is something you shouldn’t miss. You can end your complete trip in this colonial city of Malaysia. You can taste the various Malaysian foods on its quaint streets.
