Trip Itinerary

Gothic Quarter
Day 1-2
I will be expecting your arrival on Friday morning. We will begin our cultural excursion diving into Spain's gastronomy with a workshop where we will learn how to cook Paella, a dish that is 1000 years old. We will meet our professor, visit the famous La Boquería market and have our cooking lesson while tasting tapas and sangría. The workshop lasts 3 hours and once we are done delighting ourselves with our own Paella, we will walk around the Gothic Quarter. During our stroll in this iconic neighborhood of Barcelona, we will pass by various independent art expositions. We will finish the day watching a Flamenco show. Flamenco is a music and dance style based on various folkloric traditions of southern Spain. Definitely a must if you want a full immersion in the culture.

Gràcia
Day 2-3
On the second day we will begin by giving a full round in Barcelona. Refresh our memories passing by the most important sightseeings of the city with the hop on hop off touristic bus. There are two different routes, and they last approximately two hours the whole round. We will stop to pay a visit at Casa Battló, one of Gaudi's masterpieces. The house actually wasn't built by Gaudí, but completely reformed. It's original owner, Mr Josep Batlló, granted full creative freedom to the arhitect and, despite the project entailed demolishing the building, Gaudí decided to reform it, doing it between 1904 and 1906. The artist completely changed the façade, redistributing the internal partitioning, expanding the lightwell and converting the inside into a true work of art. The inside of Casa Batlló is a marvel of design. Gaudí collaborated with the very best artisans of the time, working with wrought iron, wood, stained-glass, ceramic tiles and stone ornaments. This exuberance will never cease to amaze you, but the most surprising thing is that it is always based on functionality. To make it even more fascinating, the tour makes use of virtual reality and audiovisual productions, offering an immersive experience in the house. We will get plenty of inspiration there and then follow up to our next stop: the mosaic workshop. In the classic neighbourhood of Gracia, we will attend a class with a local famous artist in her studio. She will share with us Gaudí's secrets and guide us on creating our own mosaic piece of art!

Montjuïc
Day 3-4
On our third day we will head to Montjuic, a large hill full of wonders. Gardens, castles, museums and marvelous viepoints. We will visit the National Museum of Art of Catalunya, where we can see one of the best collections of Romanesque Art in the world. The museum is located in a historical building, a palace constructed in 1929. From the museum we can walk a bit around the hill, where we can have beautiful views of the city as well as enjoy the nature. We will continue our day visiting the Poble Espanyol, a charming open-air museum with a total of 117 buildings from various regions of the country. We will feel the soul of Spain, admiring traditional architecture, buying local craftsmanship and enjoying traditional food. This open-air museum is built like an Iberian village with typical houses, small streets, a town hall, schools, shops, restaurants and even a monastery. After this immersion, we will appreciate a beautiful sunset at the Magic Fountain and then finish our day eating some Pintxos in the Bohemian area of Poble Sec, a neighbourhood next to Montjuic. Pintxos (or Pinchos) are small snacks traditional in northern Spain. Often eaten in bars, they usually have a bread basis and a vast variation of toppings to choose.
4
El Born
Day 4
On our last day we will visit the iconic Moco Museum, where we will see modern and contemporary art of great names such as Dalí, Warhol, Basquiat and Banksy. Finishing that, we will try the most flavorful cheesecake and then pay a visit to the Palau de la Musica Catalana, filling our eyes with the beauty of this palace. The rest of the day will be free, I will have some extra activities available for those who will take a flight back late at night.
