Growing up hearing stories of my family's experiences during the communist era, I've developed a fascination for the history and culture of ex-communist Romania. From the food shortages and suppressed freedoms, to the ultimate revolt that ended with the execution of ruler Ceauศ™escu, the era left a lasting impact on the country.๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฉ While today's Romania is a new and free capitalist nation๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ, traces of the communist past remain, not only in the buildings that we still live in, but in the stories of the people who lived through it. Our trip will cover 3 important buildings to understand life under communism: โ— ๐‚๐ž๐š๐ฎศ™๐ž๐ฌ๐œ๐ฎ'๐ฌ ๐‡๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ž (the house in which the ruler was living in with his family - a luxurious house, full of art and history) โ— ๐š ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ ๐š๐ฉ๐š๐ซ๐ญ๐š๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ (to make the contrast between the ruler's lifestyle and the ordinary citizens' way of living) โ— ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐๐š๐ฅ๐š๐œ๐ž ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐๐š๐ซ๐ฅ๐ข๐š๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ (second-largest building in the world, ordered by Ceauศ™escu) Also, because our trip occurs at the same time with ๐‘๐จ๐ฆ๐š๐ง๐ข๐š'๐ฌ ๐๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐ƒ๐š๐ฒ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฉ (1st of December), we will also attend the ๐œ๐จ๐ง๐œ๐ž๐ซ๐ญ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐š ๐œ๐จ๐จ๐ฅ ๐‘๐จ๐ฆ๐š๐ง๐ข๐š๐ง ๐›๐š๐ง๐, ๐’๐ฎ๐›๐œ๐š๐ซ๐ฉ๐š๐ญ๐ข, that mixes traditional folklore with contemporary electronic and hip hop music.๐ŸŽถ Here you can listen to one of my favorites from them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Suh3QEf1lgU Included in the price: โœ”๏ธ Accommodation (private room with private bathroom, near the center of the city) โœ”๏ธ Tickets to Ceauศ™escu's House, the communist apartment and the Palace of the Parliament โœ”๏ธ Tickets to Subcarpati concert Not included: โŒ๏ธ flight tickets โŒ๏ธ food&drinks โŒ๏ธ other activities We will have a guide for all of our objectives, and of course you will have me during the whole trip, to tell you more spicy stories๐Ÿ˜…, that have been passed onto me by my parents.

Trip Itinerary
1

Bucharest

Day 1-2
We will all gather at the accommodation that is near the city center, in the afternoon (of course if your flight is later, we can make it in the evening too). After you leave your stuff, we can already go for a city short tour. We will wander around in the old town, maybe grab a drink๐Ÿธ, have something to eat๐Ÿฅ˜ -- I'll introduce you to our traditional cuisine๐Ÿ˜‹. In the evening we will go to Subcarpati Concert, a cool Romanian band that mixes folklore with electronical and hip hop contemporary music๐ŸŽถ (they are really cool and the only ones that are doing it in Romania).
2

The House of Ceauศ™escu

Day 2-3
On our second day, we will start our tour of Communism, and the first location on our list is The House of Ceausescu (the house in which the ruler was living in with his family - a luxurious house, full of art and history). Afterwards, we will continue with the communist apartment, so we can get a sense of how ordinary people were living during Communism, especially in contrast to Ceausescu's house. In the evening we can wander around the city (that is full of history as well), and we can go for something to eat/drink.๐Ÿฅ‚
3

Palace of Parliament

Day 3
For Sunday, after having breakfast, we will go for a tour to the Palace of Parliament (second-largest building in the world, ordered by Ceauศ™escu). Afterwards, of course, we can go for something to eat/drink (as much as your time allows us to).๐Ÿ˜Š
